Ring Gauge Guide

I use one of these, a circle template, available for a couple of bucks from your local arts supply store.

Ring gauge is a measure of the diameter of the cigar in 64ths of an inch.

For example 48rg = 48/64" = 3/4".

Thanks for the idea, I believe I have one of these in the garage.

I typically cut one end and light the other, then I stick the cut end in my mouth. If the cut end won't fit in your mouth then the ring gauge is too big.:chk

why are so many worried about their ring gauge? :D

In theory at least, the use of larger ring sizes makes it possible to use additional types of filler leaf in the blend without packing things so tightly it adversly effects the draw.

IMHO, it allows for less skillful rollers to produce these multi-leaf blends and have room for a little error.

And of course, like almost anything else, cigar sizes are trendy, and at the moment, fat is "in".:2
