I am thirty-two years of age.
I have a professional degree.
I am engaged, with a wedding date in June.
I have a significant amount of outstanding student loans.
I am shopping for a house.
I have 300+ cigars. (Maybe even 400.)
I have purchased three full boxes of cigars in the past month.
I bought a box of Cabaiguan Corona Extras last week, because Fredster (to whom I have never spoken) liked a Cabaiguan cigar that Moki (to whom I have never spoken) said was similar to a Cabaiguan Corona Extra. Sold!
I have purchased several five packs within the last month.
My coolerdor is full. (And the Cabaiguans aren't here yet.)
I just started an accessory tupperdor.
I smoke (as it is currently winter) an average of .5 cigars per week.
I may average 2-3 cigars per week in the summer.
I thus probably have 3-4 years worth of cigars.
I have 5-10 Opuses I never smoke because I feel I need a special occasion.
I have 5-10 Anejos I never smoke because I feel I need a special occasion.
I have 30-40 Habanos I never smoke because I feel I need a special occasion.
I have 5-10 VSGs I never smoke because I feel I need a special occasion.
I have 5-10 miscellaneous cigars (Partagas 160, Hemingway Maduros, etc.) I never smoke because I feel I need a special occasion.
I thus have cigars for the next 75-100 special occasions. (May have to designate "Wednesdays" as special occasions.)
I have never smoked a Rocky Patel Old World Reserve cigar. I have had one in the Humi for at least 6 months. Been saving it for a special occasion.
Can someone please advise me why I feel compelled to purchase 1 box each of Rocky Patel Old World Reserve Maduros and Rocky Patel Old World Reserve Corojos?
And we're not just talking boxes of twenty-five. We're talking boxes of FIFTY. That would be ONE HUNDRED cigars. Because they're on a spectacular sale! 66% off MSRP! Under $4.00 per stick!
I feel I'd be stupid NOT to do it!!!
Now, mind you... I'm not actually going to do this. My self restraint... and the pure fact that I have gone crazy in the last month... and the fact that I don't actually have anywhere to put them... and the fact that I've never smoked one... and the fact that I've already got 300-400 cigars...
...are cumulatively helping provide a boost of logic that is making it possible to resist.
Barely.
Plus, I was able to buy a fiver of each off of the guys who couldn't resist. That helped a lot.
My point is this. I'm fed up with the slope. I think it is entirely asinine that I seriously "want" to buy the damned things. I want it to stop. It is stupid. Or I is stupid. There is no logical reason for me to have the desire to purchase more cigars. I should be adverse to buying cigars. I should hate the theory. They're expensive, and I have more than I need.
For example. I have one personal vehicle. I also have a work vehicle. Thus, I'm not trying to buy any more vehicles. Because they're expensive, and one is all I need. And I already have two.
Yet, with cigars... I'm like my future nephew, who, mind you, is currently two. He has some ice cream. My future niece (also two) has ice cream. Rather than eat his ice cream, which is right in front of him, my nephew tries to steal my niece's ice cream... and then cries when he doesn't get it.
And that's what the slope has reduced me to.
I want your cigars.
Give them to me.
All of them.
I have money.
And no reason not to spend it that currently comes to mind.
