Just got back from Vegas last week. Had my hard plastic travel humidor with beads and a cutter inside. Had it in my carry on. No problems at all through the x-ray machine. :ss

I have the same cooler (without the weather stripping) and less beads than you (3/4 lb.) and I recharge mine maybe every 3 - 4 weeks.

From everything you've said, there's no question the themometer is off. The temp in the humidor will always be/become the temp of the surrounding air (in the room).

Nice size! I purchased a 120qt Igloo about 4 months ago and love it. Unbelievable how well it holds the proper humidity. I went with 2 oust fans & 3/4 lb beads.

I have 3/4 of a pound of beads in a 120 qt and I have no problems. Coolers are MUCH more efficient at holding humidity that your standard wood humidor. Having said that, you really can't have too many beads, just depends how much money you want to spend. The more beads you have, the less often...

Exactly. Too early in my cigar smoking career to spend more than $5 - $7.00 stick or $100-$125.00 box. Don't know if I would really be able to tell the difference???
