Other than the size difference ... LINK I find the flavor profiles very similar. The US version might be just a touch fuller bodied + spicy ... where the Euro version is a tad creamier + sweeter. To me anyway .......

Actually that chart is a bit out of date. The tax rate is currently at 46.76% of the wholesale price. It was as the higher rate, but I believe it rolled back to the lower one in 2006. It's still rape - but at least they kiss us first. Here's a more current chart ... LINK

That would be truly sad ... as cigars are meant to be smoked. Just pick a special occasion like New Years day, Superbowl Sunday, the wedding of a good friend, birth of your first child / grandchild, the end of daylight savings, whatever ... and BURN THAT PUPPY! Either that or send it on...
