I have an Adorini (German brand) digital hygrometer. It works great and looks nice. It is also no more than 1% off target for RH readings. That would be my recommendation. Look for one on ebay - it should be around $15.

Pour some salt into a shallow dish or some sort of small container. Then add a few drops of water (not enough to dissolve the salt). Put your hygrometer and the salt dish into a ziploc bag or tupperware container, then seal it up. Let it sit...
