    Spanish cedar can be expensive, you can substitute mahogany. Some cedar to line the inside and/or shelves is good.

    What can be used instead of Spanish Cedar?

    I'm not sure on price, but Mahaogany can be used. Some people prefer mahogany to cedar because it imparts no flavor on the cigars. If you're just using it for shelves I would think a lot of woods would work, I would even venture to say plywood would work, but do your own research on that one.
