It has been about a week and it seems that the beads (1lb) and the CO xl did the trick.
The CO xl and half a pound of beads are in the cabinet outside of the humidors serving as a barrier to the dry air in the house. The humdity in the cabinet has stablized out to 71 as long as the doors are...
Had a nice CAO Mx2 tonight after dinner with my wife and some friends at my local B&M. While smoking the Mx2 the owner of the B&M tells me he has some CAO Americas in a private box that is only accessible to members and since I just signed up for a membership a couple of weeks ago I could try...
You can never have too many sticks! I have a humi at work, two at home and a private box at the local b&m. Never know when you may want to light up or gift one or more away.
I agree it is probably overkill. I think I am just using the use more then cut back theory.
tonight everything is looking pretty good. The humidity inside of the cabinet has been above 60 all day and the humidor is betwen 64 and 74 depending on which drawer I check the hygrometer in.
LOL I hear ya. I actually have two humidors in that cabinet, one at work and I have a private box at my local B&M. Like to spread out my sticks across town :D
I think the beads are doing the trick. The 3 drawer humidor inside the cabinet is reading 66 on the bottom drawer, 77 in the middle and 61 on the top. The outside of the humidor inside the cabinet is reading 65.
I have half pound of beads in the cabinet outside the humidor and half pound inside...
I don't own a cat but I have to ask what does cat litter cost these days? Is it really that much cheaper than humidification beads? How many people want to start using cat litter in their humis? I would rather support local and online cigar retailers.
The b&m I go to ( www.titancigar.com ) offers memberships. You dont have to be a member to shop there or even use the lounge but membership gives you a private box, wireless internet access and DISCOUNTs on cigars and drinks.
It is as important as ever now to support your local b&m's as so many...
Had some sticks in a small humi that was probably between 50-55 % for a few months. Took those sticks to my private box at the local B&M where they keep things at a nice level. Hoping after a couple of months in that box they will come back to life.
You must have gas heat like me.
I did put a cigar oasis xl in the cabinet and it raised the humidity in the cabinet above 60 (it was around 55 before that).
I agree.
Just to be clear the whole reason I started this was because every winter I struggle to keep my humidors at a good humidity level because the gas heat in my house is so dry. So my thought was to create a place in the house that would become a barrier for my humidors from the dry heat...
