    Pepin CI Legends Comparison

Can anyone who has had the CI Yellow label Pepin tell me how they compare to the Serie JJ naturals? I love the JJs. TIA.

    Leon Jimenes 300 new label?

Saw a review on The Velvet Cigar that prominently displays a blue-gold label. He identifies it as a robusto. The only LJ 300s I've ever bought came with a red-gold label. Wondering if they've changed the label and the blend on these wonderful cammies. Also, has anyone heard of plans to release...

Free Cigar Boxes - DC area

Hey, happened to see this and wanted to pass along to any Md/DC/Va BOTLs. Hope it's helpful: cigar boxes -- 13 to give away (bethesda) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reply to: sale-748097806@craigslist.org Date: 2008-07-09, 12:46PM EDT...

    Aroma smokers?

Just curious how many of you find the enjoyment of a cigar's aroma as the biggest factor in whether to smoke it again. It's usually a biggie for me. For example, I don't find the taste of a Bolivar 2005 blend outstanding, but love them for the rich, hearty aroma. Same with the sweet smell of...

    Finding JFRs

Hoping some of you BOTLs who have had JFRs (Just For Retail) might know of a place that sells them in my neck of the woods. I'm even willing to take a road trip if it's a reasonable distance. Thanks for any intel.

    Met Pete Johnson

Had a chance to shake hands and chat a little with Pete on Friday at Curtis Draper cigar shop in downtown Washington, D.C. Mostly, I wanted to tell him how much I enjoy the red-label Havana line. He said they were his favorite too and that he likes the Angeles vitola most -- which happens to be...

    Giving up Cigars for Lent

Well, I'm taking the pledge - no smoking and no buying cigars during Lent. I'm also going to do less scanning of CS and other sites, partly for the discipline and partly so I don't drive myself crazy. Anyway, wondering whether anyone else is giving up stogies? I figured we could offer each...

    Pepin Garcia Blue label Imperiales

Wow, this is a nice cigar. It was my first DPG but definitely will not be my last. Started off with a lot of spice, but quickly settled into a medium/full smoke with tastes of cocoa and a little spice still noticeable. I had to relight at about the halfway point, after which I got more of a...

    Another Pepin Ho?

Well, I just scored my first Pepin Blues on Cbid after seeing them at my B&M and walking out without yielding to the urge. It's the Imperiales - the torpedos. (They looked gorgeous, I kicked myself for not buying and then they show up online!). Anyway, I'm wondering if fellow Pepin freaks might...

AF Chateau Sungrown - cedar on or off?

I just got a box of these and wonder if anyone's had any trouble with mold forming under the cedar? I have experienced that with the Chateau maduros and just wondered whether I should pull them off for storage. Thanks.

    Cigar Tax Update

Thought you all might appreciate an inside-the-Beltway update from the House. During discussion in the Ways and Means Committee, Chairman Charlie Rangel said he is troubled by the potential impact of the cigar tax and intends to raise that point in any conference with the Senate when the two...

    LGC Corona Gorda (natural)

I regularly sing LGC's praises around here. I've enjoyed Serie R, the figurado line and Wavell maduros. But these are my favorites and I thought I'd do a review. This cigar was from a box my dear wife and kids gave me for Christmas 2005. The burn was micrometer straight and the draw fabulous...

    Temporary fridge storage

I find myself out of humi space. Until I can donate some sticks to the GIs, is it OK to store a few new arrivals in our spare refrigerator? And, if so, how long is too long? I also thought about tossing them in an empty Torano or Ashton box I have sitting around, dropping in a small wet sponge...

    LGC Torpedo Maduro (Miami)

Smoked this today as my much-anticipated Father's Day cigar and, though I hate to say it as a big LGC fan, I found it disappointing. The burn quickly became uneven and never really straightened out despite several retouches. I had to widen the cut twice to get any serious amount of smoke out...

    vegas de santiago puros torpedo

Got this as a freebie and, since a bunch of other BOTLs also got them, thought I'd do a short review. This 6x52 torpedo came in a cedar coffin and, frankly, had an odd odor. I did not put it in my humidor, so thought it would be rather dry. However, it burned very well, yielded lots of smoke...

    El Cobre?

Anybody know about these? Got a little robusto from my brother and can't find out who makes them or anythng else about the blend, etc. Looks tasty.

    Difference between "body" and "strength"

While I think I know a strong cigar when I experience one, I'm wondering if someone can explain the difference between "body" and "strength" as descriptive terms. For example, some reviews will note that a cigar is full bodied but medium in strength.

    RP Vintage 1992 Toro

Bottom line: This is an awesome cigar. Nice fairly dark brown wrapper, maybe a little reddish hue here and there. Box pressed but not overly so. Pre-light draw was perfect with a nice rich almost moist tobacco taste. This thing had nearly perfect burn til the midway point, when it got a...

    Cuba Aliados zeppelin

Anyone have an opinion on these. I'm becoming a fan of perfectos and these look interesting in new Holt's catalog. Thanks for any helpful advice.
