I went and did a write up for another site ( they asked me first). The Macanudo 1968 is actually a good cigar...the HdM Excalibur Legend is also nice, not as full as the Mac tho.
La Aurora had a preferido Lancero, Arganese had his new CL3 and ML3s. MATASA had their new Casa Magna...very clean...
Not sure bout Jersey laws...but in some cities here in Texas if the shop is in a strip center they cannot allow smoking...yeah I know stupid but it is the law.
I smoked one this morning a great stick with lots of flavor. And it was from Dec 06 (Thanks Steve) ...they do age well...if you can wait. Otherwise they are great right out of the box.
The Maduros are not the same as the original JFRs. THe original JFR were acutally demo cigars made by Pepin for rolling events. We tried them at the RTDA in Nashville and then kept bugging Paul Palmer to release them. (He was kind enough to make up a few extra wheels and send them our way...
The Free Cuba is made by Tropical and is a pretty good Fuma.(ie sandwich) Others for the price are La Vieja Habana by Drew Estate...they come in different wrappers. Gran Habano has a Fuma as well...they also have a long filler cigar the GR Special which goes for about 2 bucks.
For mild...
Gary is no longer with em....he reps Kinky Friedman's cigars. Steve is the manager now. Be sure to look for the Liga Privada #9s...they are the only authorized retailer with em in North Texas.
Exactly right...they use isopropyl alcohol 90% which is the neutral fragrance and you use to clean your stone wick. I use the fragrance sparingly. I add about 1/4 to the rest neutral....otherwise the fragrance can get to be a lot. We like the lemon Lampe Berger scent. It is fresh and not...
The Fincks are good people. I did an article on the for Cigar Magazine last summer. Bill is running the factory and the store and is running around a lot. Their prices are very fair and the Travis Clubs are very good machine made cigars. I know what tobacco they use...but I can't say ( Bill...
I use the Csonka Smoker CLoaker....it runs 24/7 and while it does put out some ozone, not much but it does get rid of the smells. To give ya an idea, we had something ( a rat, mouse or squirrel) die in our bathroom wall. It stunk to high heaven. I tried everything to kill the smell. Nothing...
gor a couple up on the group website....but I didn't take many cuz I was busy so I am hoping to get more from the rest of the crew. Will let ya know when I do.
Well the 12th annual Dallas Post Turkey Day Crawl got off to a rather shaky start as on Thanksgiving night snow decided to make a brief appearance. (Fortunately this was not like 1993 and the infamous Ice Bowl cowboys game downpour.) By Friday morning the sun was out, no remnants of the...
I know most of the stores here in Dallas have them and they will ship. This is a terrific idea. Jose has been torturing a few of us in Dallas trying to educate us on the differences of the wrappers so we can pick them out. This is simply a great idea...letting you see what the wrapper does to...
Well I'll let you know....tonight I am eating at Taps Brea. I called and they said they have a cigar area on the patio where you are welcome to light up. Habana in Costa Mesa said you can smoke cigars at lunch (til 4pm) then after 10pm....so they are out. Thanks Rob.
I will be in Santa Ana tomorrow and was looking forward to heading up to Santa Monica and Schatzi's...now I hear it is gone. Any other places where you can smoke a cigar and have dinner?
First of all the show attendance was waaay down. We heard only around 500 attendees. However most who were there were enthusiastic. The bluk of the talk was about SCHIP....At the welcome breakfast that was the main concern.
This is the LAST RTDA convention. Next year it will be IPCPR...
