    Bead Pillow

Wow, great minds think alike. See my post (#18) from this past May with the link below. I gave them the same name, used the same material, same idea about surface area, etc., but used fishing line instead of thread. Amazing parallel! http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=156779&page=2

Carry On Cigar Humidifiction, what will the TSA allow?

Just got back from Vegas last week. Had my hard plastic travel humidor with beads and a cutter inside. Had it in my carry on. No problems at all through the x-ray machine. :ss

    There's no end in sight.

I've got a 120 qt Igloo with 3/4 lb beads. Works fantastic. I wouldn't even think of going smaller than this. Plenty of room for boxes, trays, etc. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3512888

Why Won't My Coolidor Hold Humidity?

I have the same cooler (without the weather stripping) and less beads than you (3/4 lb.) and I recharge mine maybe every 3 - 4 weeks.

    hygrometer

From everything you've said, there's no question the themometer is off. The temp in the humidor will always be/become the temp of the surrounding air (in the room).

    Picking up cooler tomorrow

Nice size! I purchased a 120qt Igloo about 4 months ago and love it. Unbelievable how well it holds the proper humidity. I went with 2 oust fans & 3/4 lb beads.

How many beads for 70qt cooler

I have 3/4 of a pound of beads in a 120 qt and I have no problems. Coolers are MUCH more efficient at holding humidity that your standard wood humidor. Having said that, you really can't have too many beads, just depends how much money you want to spend. The more beads you have, the less often...

I just happened to have one of these on Saturday night for the first time. Really impressed by it. Unusually smooth and tasty.

Just Bought a 150 Quart Cooler

Got a 120 qt igloo cooler at WalMart last month for $48.00. Really like it. They come in white and green. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3512888

What do you keep ypur beads in?

The supplies were very inexpensive and quite simple to make; plastic canvas from a craft store and cheap, thin fishing line from Fleet Farm. Took a little time sewing the pillows shut but it wasn't too bad. The pillows are really rigid so they keep their shape perfectly while standing up...

What do you keep ypur beads in?

I made a couple "bead pillows" for my coolador. It seemed to me that this design would maximize the surface area of the beads. I used 14 mesh plastic canvas and 6 lb test fishing line to stitch the canvas all the way around. They are about 5" x 6". I have 2 of them in my 120 qt cooler. Each...

    Post cigar headache?

Perhaps it's the booze. That's what I blame it on anyway!;)

    How much is too much?

Exactly. Too early in my cigar smoking career to spend more than $5 - $7.00 stick or $100-$125.00 box. Don't know if I would really be able to tell the difference???

    Do you Smoke Cigarettes???

Quit smoking cigarettes years ago and took up cigars shortly after. :tu Best thing I ever did. Cigars only since then.

Need some advice on my Humidor

Like a few people have mentioned, the key here is the hygrometer (especially for someone relatively new at this). Without a cailibrated, digital hygrometer, nothing else you do will really matter.

    Reseason Humi??

Definitely needs to be re-seasoned unless there was a working humidification device in there right up until you brought it home.
