Carry On Cigar Humidifiction, what will the TSA allow?

Also I'd be reluctant to attempt to carry on anything even remotely illegal (e.g. ISOMs).

I was sitting in an airport lounge next to a herd of TSA drones on break and
they were swapping stories of having handed off passengers who had weed etc. over to the police.

WTF??? I don't advocate illegal drug use but last time I looked the TSA was supposed to be looking after safety not chasing after dime bags of weed, and checking that the names on the bottle of vicodin match the ID of the passenger.

Bests

The airpost are totaly cracking down
My sister arived on friday morning to help out with my new son

She said its crazy they were taking stuff from ppl left and right.
you cant even buy water in the airport and bring it on the plane.

there realy getting crazy now.. i understand its about safty but pretty soon no one will fly at all..

I would say that heartfelt sheets seem the safest way to go

The airport baggage screeners are parking lot attendants who have caught an employment break. No where else but in a federal agency would such unqualified individuals have such a level of authority. As much as I dislike checked baggage, everything goes in the cargo hold until the donkeys in the white shirts are brought up to speed.

Go old fashion, bite the end and use a some rock and flint to light them. Good luck, and keep us posted if you find out.

What exactly is your high and mighty function on this planet that gives you the right to talk about the people who help to keep you safe with such animosity and disrespect? Or do you even have a job?

 :sl

I have not flown since the latest crack down. In the past I have had no issues with the Humidity Sheets since they just look like a paper liner in my cigar case. I don't take lighters, I at all just pick up a cheap lighter when I get there. I take a flight to Las Vegas at least 4 times a month and have had no issues.

Lots and lots of air miles and thirty years experiance in the sky. And whlile you don't have to care for my opinion and can say whatever you want, I'm sticking to it.

I was out to Vegas and back this weekend. I carried my 15 stick armored humidor (heavy duty plastic) as a carry on. Neither airport looked at it. I think, technically, you are not supposed to carry on any gel like material, so humidipacks and water pillows should be out – but I didn't stop and ask.

Don't ask, don't tell?

I personally wouldnt risk it by carrying it on especially since they are cracking the whip big time. I would put it in your checked luggage and leave it at that. I wouldnt want to deal with all the bullshit they are doing now a days. I try and get in and out of security as fast as I can with the least amount of headaches.

Seeing as how I just came back from Aruba on Friday and got caught smack dab in the middle of all of this.... don't even risk it. I Bought bunches of good stuff whilst down there BEFORE the reports hit about what happened. Looked at my wife and said I'm screwed. :hn

In any event I took a small hard case with Vipers beads in a tube on the way down and put it in checked luggage. Lighter, cutter and all. No problems. On the way back I just wrapped everything and protected it best I could and hoped for the best. Again no problem.

Provided you check everything in checked baggage you shouldn't have any worries so my thing is just why worry about it. It's not like you can light up on the plane anyhow! :2

So beads are OK right? Anybody have problems with carrying on beads in a travel-humi?

P.S. I am not checking luggage and have the lighter/cutter situation handled, just curious about the beads as they get somewhat gel-like when wet.

To answer your question, beads should be fine.On the other hand, added humidification isn't needed if I plan on being away less then a couple weeks *IMO*.
Zip lock bags work fine for me...

Just got back from Vegas last week. Had my hard plastic travel humidor with beads and a cutter inside. Had it in my carry on. No problems at all through the x-ray machine. :ss

According to the TSA website:

Air travelers may carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints.

The following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols carried through security checkpoints.

All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.

I printed the below page from the TSA website and carry it in my briefcase when I travel. It lists what is and is not allowed according to their own rules. If I get flack about cutters or a non-torch type lighter, I can just whip that out and show them whats what.
