Evolving Lead Gorilla
Ever since I got back into cigars, I've been using a stone ashtray we've had around for years. It's a nice heavy sucker with a wide rim (about an inch.) Unfortunately it is made for cigarettes and the slotted rests are far too small for a cigar, so it's generally a balancing act when I lay my cigar down while smoking.
This afternoon I was puttering around my workbench and came across a 6x6 square of tin that was leftover from a backsplash I installed in our kitchen last year. Looking at that piece of tin I began thinking about the Stinky brand ashtrays and a stroke of creativity hit me. In about an hour using just some tinsnips and solder, I fashioned my own little lightweight, portable cigar rest:

My wife calls it the Cigar Hammock. It's got some rough edges and isn't the prettiest thing, but I love it! I'm generally not that crafty, which is why I was so excited that I had to share. Thanks for looking. :ss
