First Cuban Cigars - Need Some Advice

Newbie in the jungle
I was fortunate enough to finally land a few Cuban sticks. Having never had a true Cuban cigar I am obviosuly happy and looking forward to my first one.

They are Lonsdale/Churchill in length and were a little on the hard/dry side when I got them. I usually keep my humi at around 67% humidity but with the hotter weather where I live the levels do rise and can fluctuate between 69-73% +/- a degree or two. They have been in there for about 7-10 days right now.

Here is my question...

How long should I keep these in my humi before I light up the first one?

Thanks

Depends on:
1. how many you have.
2. how long it took to get in your hands.
3. when you'll get more.

if you have more than 2 I'd wait a week or two ....
if you have less than or equal to 2 then I say a month for one and save the other..

I would say it depends on how long they've been dry. You really won't know this unless you know the transit time out of a stable environment.

Some Habanos are better smoked on the drier side, so if you're used to cigars stored in 70/70, you might have gotten something that was stored at 60% RH which might feel hard and dry to you.

If they were left out of a stable environment for longer than a week, I would give them at least a month in your humidor to stabilize. If you just received them 2 days out of someone's humidor, then I'd consider lighting one up in a few days.

Mine arrived in ten days with a humidifier pack. I smoked one the first night, one the next day, and the next... They smoked fine and were mighty good. Except the PSD4(didn't taste good).. must have been sick :(

:tpd: And, in case ye got a tad more than expected, smoke one as soon as ye can! :ss

Enjoy them sticks!
