Humi's for Canadians?

Well I've fallen down the slippery slope and somehow ended up with more cigars then room in my humi and a rather large credit card bill. Right now I have the excess (if there is ever such a thing :ss) in a humi bag but I want to get them into an actual humi.

Now the local B&M has some but they are smaller and quite expensive. I've been looking at http://www.cheaphumidors.com/ and they seem to have a decent selection and decent prices. Before I place any orders I was wondering if there were any better options for Canadians? Also, is UPS ok on humi's, I know that cigars are best sent through USPS but do humis have the same problems at the border? And any other suggestions are more then welcomed!

I would look at cigarmony as they have always treated me right.

As for UPS they are "murder" on duties when it comes to duties vs. Canada Post. If at all possible I would avoid UPS.

As for the humidor I would search the forums and realize that as quick as you filled you current humi you will fill the new one twice as quick. Avoid space, shipping, and duty issues and get a cooler and some beads (or a fridge).

Enjoy

I've just ordered my humidor from cheaphumidors.com about a month ago. It was a 200ct, so not too small and not gigantic either. They wrapped it well and packed it nicely in a big box. It was shipped by Fedex. I paid no duties, yet... (I know fedex sometimes sends you a letter 2-3 weeks after you've received something telling you to pay up :gn).

Anyway, I have no complaints. On top of it I ordered one that was "Imperfect" and saved almost 50%. I can't even find the scratch on it.

cheaphumidors is good. I'd also look around at places like Sears clearance centers. They had a bunch of 100-200 count humis. I have no idea why, they just seem to have them.

Also, look at Cragslist. I found LOTS there.

Worst case, get a cooler. You can also find excellent deals on Vinotemps right now.

Assuming you already have a nice desktop humi for your day to day use, I would strongly recommend you go with a coolidor. Pick it up at Wall Mart or Canadian Tire or something like that, add beads and you are good to go. This was the only way I was able to keep my sticks from drying out prior to going to an active humidifier (hydra). This is especially relevant to us in the North as the RH in our homes really take a big drop in the winter due to outside weather conditions and the furnace drying out the air.

Great advice. They are inexpensive and very easy to look after. Given the time of year you might be able to find them on sale.

Hey I've lived in the frozen arctic in NWT/Nunavut for 20 years and had no idea those igloos had cigars in them! Damn! :r

I just ordered a humi from Cheap Humidors. They were fast - order was with USPS within the day. That was Friday, so I'm hoping to see it at my front door sometime this week.

I picked the more expensive USPS shipping (almost $50) over the UPS shipping because I've been ding too many times with broken products and high duty. It was $20 more, but I figured it was money well spent.

Hope this helps.

BTW: Where in Ontario are you from?

I've ordered two humi's - a desktop and a cabinet - from Bargain Humidors and am very happy with the price paid and the shipping. In both cases the product arrived in under 8 business days which is pretty amazing. I'm use to 2 weeks minimum to get product to Canada.
