NC Box Codes

Anyone know a good resource for NC box codes? I have a box of Hoyo Epicure's with a code of 2HCA and was hoping to find what year they're from.

on the back it says
25 cigars
hand made in
spanish honduras
by honduras american tabaco, s.a.
(stamped) 2HCA
 
Dan, the only nc box codes I know of come with Pepins and the little slip of paper inside Padron boxes that lets you know when they were boxed. 98% of nc's will not have box-codes. I'm sure there are a couple more but not many, at all.
 
You need the Villazon box codes. Here are the old ones:

6HE = July/00
6HF = Aug/00
6HG = Sept/00
6HH = Oct/00
6HI = Nov/00
6HJ = Dec/00
7Hk = Jan/01
7HL = Feb/01
7HM = March/01
7HN = April/01
7HO = May/01
7HP = June/01
7HQ = July/01
7HR = August/01
7HS = Sept/01
7HT = Oct/01
7HU = Nov/01
7HV = Dec/01
8HW = Jan/02
8HX = Feb/02
8HY = March/02
8HZ = April/02
8HA = May/02
8HB = June/02
8HC = July/02
8HD = Aug/02
8HE = Sept/02
8HF = Oct/02
8HG = Nov/02
8HH = Dec/02
9HI = Jan/03

So presumably 0 is 2004, 1 is 2005 and your 2 is 2006.

I leave the month as an exercise for you.

I just received a box of Tat Havana VIs (Hermosas) from CI. The good news is there was an actual month and year stamped on the box.

The bad news--the year was 2009.

Some vendors (Famous Smoke Shop comes to mind) will put a sticker on the bottom of the box with they date they received it. If you inquiring for aging/resting periods, that may help. I buy from Famous quite a bit and I just use that date as a sort of "born on" date to decide how long to let 'em rest.

Nothing penciled in?? That would probably be read as HC equals Honduran Colorado, and the numbers signify September 2006. After Nov. 2005 (the last code that I can verify), the code seems to have broken down.
 
Gran Habano also stamps their boxes. They started this in the later half of 2007. They stamp it with the date of boxing. I like to store my boxes for long periods of time and wish more manufacturers would do this.

I have a box of VL Gran Habanos stamped in 06.

Wish more manufacturers would do this.
