Question on Beads and Cooler

I was wondering, if I want to start a collerdor should I go with 50 quart or more? I have a 200 count humidor that is full, but i can't imagine that I will be buying a ton of cigars since i am only in college and income is low. I basically want to use the cooler so i can move some of my sticks from the humidor so i can more easily search through my selection and have more variety. I also want to age some cigars in the cooler and pick up some boxes to do this.

Basically how many boxes/cigars will a 50 quart cooler hold, and also should i order half a pound or a pound of beads. I tried searching these things but couldn't find any specifics. Also 65% or 70%? I normally keep my 200 count around 67 or so, but i wasn't sure what to do if i want to age.

Thanks.

I would buy the largest you can store in your house, and that fits into your budget. I have like a 20 qt cooler and it only fits 5-6 boxes at a time, along with a tray of loose sticks.

As for beads, get the 65% for a cooler. The cooler doesn't absorb nearly as much moisture as a cedar lined humi does, so 70% would probably be a bit much. If you are going to get something as big as 50qt, definitely get at least a full pound of beads. More is better than less!

I've got a 50qt cooler and a lb of beads in it. It's not full atm, but I think I could fit about 15-20 boxes, depending on the box size and my packing abilities. I also keep my travel humidor in there so I don't have to worry about seasoning it every time I want to use it. The beads do a good job of regulating, but I keep a glass of distilled water in there as well this time of year, because my house is so dry.

Def. order the full pound of beads- you can never have too many; only pay the shipping once!
Another vote for the 65% beads as well.
You're on the right path, my friend!
