Seward - Yukon Bar

I haven't tried smoking too many places in Alaska since the "no smoking inside" law kicked in for Anchorage, but me and my old man were able to enjoy a couple gars in the Yukon when we went to Seward. When my dad asked if we could smoke cigars inside the bartender said something like, "I don't care what you smoke, hell if you've got some crack I may come back and join ya." So no mistaking this for any kind of a cigar bar or anything, but they do have a good draft selection and it is a place you HAVE to go if you are ever in Seward, AK.

The Yukon is a crazy bar. That places gets nuts on the weekends. I had a boat in Seward for a couple years and spent many evenings in the Yukon.

Outside of Anchorage, most people don't mind cigar smoking at bars. Cigarettes aren't tolerated as widely, which is kinda nice :)

Anchorage huh? I was a bouncer at Koots for 3 years. I love Alaska!! :tu:tu

I lived right down Fireweed, behind Cheechakos at 2300 D street for 5 years. I love Koots :chk Been kicked out of there many a night :mn

Ha, I kicked many out a night. I miss AK.

I miss all the great bars within walking distance in the downtown area. Humpy's, F Street Station, Darwins, The Brewpub, etc. I have 10 acres down on the peninsula that aren't good for much, other than camping and access to the Kenai River. I'd go back tomorrow...my wife wouldn't. I sure would miss her.

Alaska is the best.

Man, they have like 3 new bars downtown as well. Their is a club which rivals with Koots called Platinum Jacks I think, apparently it's pretty nice.

I lived up there from 96-04 and have only been back once since we left. Nothing will ever beat/match Koots. I'm trying to get back there next summer, but we just had a baby and he might be too young for the road trip :)

Were you military? I taught on Fort Wainright in Fairbanks. I hated that friggin place, but it was all a fun adventure. I had buddies at Fort Rich and Elmendorf that I'd take out on my boat all the time.

I'm still Military. I was stationed at Elmendorf and used Koots for extra money. :tu
