Still having RH Problems damnit

Ok, here we go again..

My ongoing crisis is becoming more and more aggrivating. As per usual, a little info to begin with..

Humidor-Daniel Marshall Ambiente
Humidifier-Cigar Oasis
# of Cigars in Humi- about 70

Problem-Can't keep RH up enough to keep cigars from cracking.

I have sprayed the inside down with distilled water, sponged everything down, kept it sealed for a few days and the RH still is too low. Some cigars are dry, some are relatively moist, but not perfect.

Oasis continually runs dry. I have to fill it up about once every two months.

Any suggestions?

I must say this is getting real frustrating and really tiring. I just want this problem to solve itself.

Have you tried putting the whole humi inside something that
will seal, like a cooler?

Make a small environment where any moisture that is leaked
stays around the humi.

If it stablizes at this point, you know you have a leaky humi.
See if you can trade them for another or get your money back.

I feel for you but I have never had one do this to me.

I would say, toss the humidor. AND the next one you get, don't wipe down the inside.

Try using a tupperware type box 'till you get a new humidor. But be careful, you may have a high Rh problem if you don't open the box now and then.

Just some more $.02

Is the seal tight? Spraying the wood is not good - too much moisture causes nothing but problems. To increase humidity, you need to add more PG in the oasis. I'd put all the cigars in gladbags, place a dish in the bottom, fill with distilled water for a few days. This should help increase the humidity level.

Justin-

I would have to agree with Pyro on this. Toss that Humi. Well first see if you can get an exchange. Anyway to my point. I have had a CigarOasis for a little over a year inside a Cristom Calabresi (70 stick) Humi. I have only had to change the refill pack once at the 10 month mark. Did not fill it but bought a new refill. My humi has maintained perfect RH with 20-40 cigars in there. I have tested it with 10 other guages both digital and analog and find the same results. My sensors tell me you have a leak Captain. I would recomend using the proper CigarOasis refill for only $15-, which is great when you don't have to fill it all the time (worth $15- to me!). Next I would not wipe down or spray your new Humi, just put the CO unit inside with no cigars and let it sit for a month then guage it and add your cigars. I have learned that you can get well sealed cheap humi's and you can get very leaky expensive humi's. I won't buy a humi if I can't examine it first. Not that I can tell just by looking that it's a leaker, but I just get a vibe. A friend of mine has the $1500 Opus X Traveldor and it leaks like a sive. I hope some of this helps.

We all have weaknesses, so why not light up a good Havana and be content with knowing you have the greatest weakness of all. :)
