In the above linked thread I had a bad experience with the torpedo of the same blend. Apparently that was a previous batch and Rob was kind enough to send me a pack of Twists of all shapes. I would like to thank Rob at Taboo for his gracious gift and kgoings once again for gifting the first Twist.

So on to the review.

Construction: 8/10

The wrappers were both a little veiny and there was one spot on the maduro stripe where the binder showed through. Overall though it was well made and drew very well.

Burn: 8/10

The two wrappers made a straight burn near impossible but it wasn't horrible just a slightly different burn rate that was overall rather even considering. The ash held on for 2/3 of the cigar and it was quite interesting to see the lighter ash where the Connecticut burned and the dark stripe where the maduro burned. The core of the ash was white and a very dark ash peaked through under the white where the Connectictut burned.

Notes: I had a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast with some soy "milk" so I think my breakfast subdued much of the sweeter flavors in this cigar initially. I started smoking at about 6 am and watched the sun rise. It was a little cooler this morning than usual with the temperature at about 78 degrees. It was quite a nice morning.

Now, on to what you all want to hear, how did it TASTE?

Flavor: 9/10

This time around I had a much better experience. The cigar was smooth all the way down and the bitterness that made the last Twist I smoked such a disappointment was completely absent. As I mentioned the sweetness was subdued but about halfway through the cigar I started to notice the sweetness again. It had a tangy finish that was slightly reminiscent of that Cuban twang I so enjoy. Earth and cedar were ever present under tones.

Overall: 8/10

Rob, you will probably see me ordering these in the near future.

thanks for the review. i tried a robusto myself while tailgating with my dad at a baseball game. however a storm rolled in a totally ruined it so i guess i have to order another one. thanks for the review.

Great review - thanks.

I'm glad it turned out you only had a bad one last time - I was wondering if I was only imagining enjoying the Twist Churchills as much as I do. :)

Oh no that means we have a 75% chance for rain today! :r

Glad you liked it, too bad the one I gave you had the bitter taste. :tu

I just finished my first Taboo Twist, in the robusto vitola. What a nice cigar. Smooth, creamy, great flavor. I got hints of pine, marshmallow, and sweet coffee. I'm typically not one for big ring gauges, but this one just "works" for this cigar. It lasted me about 1:45. I really liked this cigar, and anticipate buying more.

I have two Taboo, (not twists) in my humi thanks to two very generous BOTL's. Can't wait to try.
