The Beagle Family update

Evolving Lead Gorilla
Well here goes. About two weeks ago my 91 yo grandmother was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer and stomach cancer. Due to the age and other factors, the US doctors declined to operate. So GMa, being who she is, decided to go to Mexico City with my uncle and his family for the rest of her days. The family here decided to have her talk to a doctor friend, who convinced her to have the surgery. This was only days after her arrival, so my father and I rushed down just in case the worse happened. The good thing: she survived, the bad: the doctor had to remove her entire stomach during the operation.

I had already made peace that I would not see her alive again, and I still wonder how long she will survive as well as how her quality of life will be. All in all, things should be okay for now. The recovery will take a long time, but the Mexican doctors are aggressive and hopeful. Either way, GMa will be moving forward and living with my family here in Mexico City; they are in a better position to care for her. Either way, it will mean more traveling to D.F. to see her.
