Turning 30 in a couple weeks! What to smoke?

Jason,

I'm going to vote for the Padron 1964 Maduro. T&C cigars @ Glade & 121 in Euless and Arlington Cigar off of 157 both carry the full line. Both also have the Opus X in stock as of Monday.

If you're up for a drive, Up in Smoke on McArthur in Irving has every Tatuaje except for the black in stock.

I stock a few of the unmentionables and am local. Send me a PM and I can help you out on the B-Day smoke. My 31st is Oct. 14th by the way.

A good friend of mine who turns 30 in November asked me a while back when we were going to start celebrating the end of our 20's. My reply was that whenever we started, we were ending at 11:00 pm. Sucks getting older!

Jeff

Edit: Check with Rob @ Taboocigars.com as well. He has amazing deals on the Padron smokes as well as others. He is located in North Richland Hills which may be closer to you.

I have been to Taboo Cigars. They seemed to have a real nice selection, and good prices too. They were real helpful and I will definitely be going back to see them. It may be worth a drive to Euless to check out T&C I think. I have been trying to visit as many B&Ms as I can to get an idea of the selection and kind of just check it out.

Thanks for the info!

This may not be the direction you're leaning, but for my birthday in a couple days, I'm planning on celebrating with an old standby in a new size. Probably my overall fav cigar is a La Gloria Cubana. My local shop has this rediculiously huge size, something like 9 or 10 inches long! It only ran me 6.49 or something, but it's a cigar I know and love, and the humongous size makes it worthy of the celebration.

My good friend and smoking buddy just turned 27 a few weeks ago, and he likes Cohiba's as well. At the same shop, they had Cohiba XV churchills and I picked one up for the occasion. While I do agree that the padron's mentioned in this thread would probably be the ideal cigar, if you haven't had one before, your birthday may not the time to find out you do or don't like this $20 cigar!

I can remember my very first Padron 1926. It was #6 Maduro.
When I smoked it I thought "Damn, I never imagined a cigar could be THIS GOOD!!!"
Granted, it was at a time when everything was just right. Great company, great friends around, and a great big stupid smile on my face.
It was perfect timing for an excellent smoke, and it left a real impression on me. So much so that I jumped of the edge head first and slid down the slope on my belly. :r

Hey guys, I am a new smoker, and still really feeling out different cigars. I want to have a really nice one for my 30th, but not really sure what to get. I would like something memorable, and don't mind paying what it is worth for it.

So, what is the cigar that you remember most (for good reasons), that I have a reasonable chance of obtaining in 2 weeks time?

Jason, very good question and, of course, there is more than one answer. When I turned 30 I smoked a Davidoff Anniversario no. 1.

They are about $30 each and come packaged in a beautiful cedar wood tube that you can keep as a nice souvenir. It is a big cigar that will take two hours to smoke BUT it is surprisingly light and will not give you a nicotine shock. It will also make you look like the Big Kahuna. :ss

Another advantage of Davidoff is their outstanding quality control. You can be sure that your birthday cigar is not a dud.

See the attached image for me lighting the big stick on my 30th birthday!

Ok, stopped by the B&M and before I knew it, I was leaving with:

Tatuaje Cabinet (Brown Label)
Padron 26 80th Natural
Ashton VSG

Maybe I can talk the boss into letting me leave early :ss
