The much anticipated Torano Signature Robusto. http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=103969 I have been eyeballing this stick for a while not sure if I wanted to have another Torano I couldn't get enough of. Well I finally went for it. I bought it at the B&M and had to smell it at the office all afternoon. Then I rushed home only to find it POURING rain and I just couldn't go outside with it. So I had to wait :c I got to it Sunday evening drooling all over myself I took it outside and lit up.
APPEARANCE: Perfect! This was a dark oscuro, very oily. There were some nice veins in the wrapper but not enough to roughen the texture. This one was smooth and ready for take off.
AROMA/ BOUQUET: This is gonna get redundant but. Perfect! Full aroma with coffee and chocolate very apparent. The pre-light draw gave hints of salt.
SMOKE: Very even burn with a complete combustion. The coal was a bit round but still longer in the center. The ash was a dark gray with typical structure.
DRAW: A little tight but not enough to annoy me. Decent amount of smoke and if you really went after it it would produce big bellowing clouds of white smoke.
FLAVOR 1/3: Very ample richness with perfect balance. Tastes of sweet candy and fresh coffee were lighting up my taste buds. One thing I noticed immediately was snorking was silky smooth. There was no burn or even a tingle coming off the nose
FINISH/AFTERTASTE 1/3: The finish had pronounced sweetness with no bitterness or acidity. There were medium touches of salt but the finish was short enough they weren't bothersome.
FLAVOR 2/3: Still very rich. The balance gave way to some ups and downs in flavor. The snork was a little weird tasting something I couldn't quite pick up or decide if I liked it or not.
FINISH/AFTERTASTE 2/3: Still very sweet but the saltiness really picked up. I am not a big fan of salt and can pick it up very quickly in food and this was not a pleasing finish to me. Yet still high hopes for this baby to calm down and get back on track.
FLAVOR 3/3: Well S#@T I figured out what the taste was or better yet the now BURN on the nostrils. Spray Paint. I thought maybe someone switched sticks or something. It literally tasted like someone sprayed this cigar with a cleaning agent.
FINISH/AFTERTASTE 3/3: :pu that's about it. So salty I had hearburn by the time the cigar was done.
SUMMARY: I was crushed. I don't know how else to put it. Although I guess I got my wish and still only have one Carlos Torano cigar to sought after. That would be the Virtuoso. I may someday give this another try but I am gonna have to be in a very forgiving mood. Sorry if I have insulted anyone's tastes I just want to be honest. Maybe I just got a bad stick.
