New stuff, made by the same people that make Peterson (thats how they got me to buy them)

haven't had the new stuff.
have had some of the older stuff, and it was excellent and very hard to find now.

I have only had Celebrated Sovereign, made by Mcclelland, it is in my top 5.

I'll post my impressions. The local shop (closest one to me) that I try to frequent carries Peterson tins for me, but during one of their orders they picked up Ashton, which is somehow affiliated with Peterson or maybe the distributor pushes them both.

I bought two tins (one was something rain and the other all I remember was it was orange).

I didn't like either of them. They are flavorless to me and seem unaged, almost like cigarette tobacco (that's what it felt like to me). I tried to give them away, but no pipe smoker wanted them after trying them.

I tried to smoke several bowls knowing that sometimes it takes a few tries to grow on you, but I just didn't like them eventually just tossing them. I was curious if anyone else had different perspectives.

This was a while ago, so I can't be more specific. The shop hasn't been able to move any of the other tins.

I had some of the old stuff-not sure which but I believe it was a straight up VA broken flake. It's been about 10 years since I had it. I remember liking it, but for whatever reason never bought more. Wish I had stocked up....

Sounds like Brindle Flake. I just missed a bunch of tins of Old Dog, Celebrated Sovereign and Brindle Flake on ebay :(

My favorite tobacco, of all time, was Old Church, (made by McClelland for Ashton.) I don't like any of the new Ashton blends I've tried. I once contacted McClelland about incorporating the Ashton blends into their own name line, (specifically the Old Church.) The reply I got was something along the lines of copyrights owned by Ashton, and, that Ashton may bring back the McClelland line. The jury is still out.

Sorry to get off the origional subject. Just thought I'd share some insight.

Back on subject, like I said above, I don't like the new blends.

Nonsense! That's right on topic. I didn't know all this stuff and not sure I understand how it is currently affiliated with Peterson.
