I was at the local shop for the weekly herf there and a guy was smoking a pipe so I asked him to help me with my packing/lighting problems. He did and I was finally able to get though a bowl and I really enjoyed it. I had whatever frenchy sent me when i bought my pipe

Good deal, man. I think that is one of the toughest obstacles to smoking a pipe and probably causes more quitters than we realize. Now that you have that down, remember smoking a pipe is an art, full of new and wonderful experiences around every corner. Hope you stay with us and enjoy.

I am with Hatter on this one. There is a lot more to smoking a pipe than most people think. Patience is the key. It gets better and better. Stay with it.

Congrats on your first taste of the pipe... Packing the pipe is the tricky part and the absolute KEY to it's enjoyment. Not hard to do but just takes a little practice. Some day you'll be able to pack it blindfolded and have a perfect smoke every time.

Packing it too tightly is the biggest mistake new pipesters make, it should barely give any resistance when you draw on it... You sip gently on it as you smoke and it's the most relaxing thing in the world.
