I read about this method in an article by GL Pease. I've been looking for a good nic buzz lately and the G&H rope I got last week fell a bit short of what I expected, so today I decided to give a try to smoking a big bowlful of it using this method. I have to say that the constant mouthful of smoke did do a bit to enhance the intake of nicotene, but it is definitely something that I will have to practice in order to keep it burning cool and evenly throughout the entire bowl. I certainly noticed the tobacco was more flavorful also. Is anyone on the forum good at smoking this way? Also those looking for heavier nic content tobaccos should give this a try first and see what you think.

Just breezed over it myself, so I'm kinda improvising, but I think it is pretty much keeping a very light steady draw on your pipe while breathing through your nose, on occasion blowing a little back through the pipe (like every 4 breaths or so) which I discovered cools the tobacco because it robs the ember of oxygen with that puff of carbon monoxide coming through and then puffing the smoke out of your mouth to do it all over again. Basically keeps smoke swirling in your mouth all the time the pipe is going. This will be one to practice for sure, but if I can get it down, it'll be worth it. Hope it doesnt take as long to learn as the things I learned early on.

That's funny, that's pretty much the way I smoke a pipe and I never read the article.
I was having problems with my pipe always going out (I know it's probably packing) so I decided to essentially never stop puffing. I continuously take reeealy long, slow puffs while nose breathing. Works pretty well, actually. You mentioned your motivation was to increase the Nic hit, did Greg give another reason for the method?

Thats funny. The problem I'm having with this is the pipe going out. I know..... just need some practice.
Yeah Pease said he learned it from his granddad who told him it was just the best way to smoke, more satisfaction, better flavor and cooler burn. Wish I had the article to read again. Anyone got that?
