I recently slowed down on my drinking, and I've smoked 2 blends that have left me feeling high for a lack of a better word. The two blends were Peterson's Irish Flake and Peter Stockebye Luxury Bullseye. The feeling was light headed with a slight feeling of euphoria.

I've heard about nicotene highs but had never experienced it before. Y'all think it's because I normally have some kind of drink to go with my smokes?

One other factor: I have cut back on my eating. Mainly salads and low fat sandwiches.

Anyone have any experience with this?

You may have confused the nicotine buzz w/ an alcohol buzz before. Or maybe the alcohol buzz "hid" the nic buzz. Also, sugar actually counters the nic buzz, so if you're eating less sugary foods/drinks, then the nicotine can certainly be stronger now. Salads and low fat sandwiches aren't known for high sugar content. :)

this is just my opinion so wait for more info.
but ive found smoking and drinking together seems to limit the effect of either (or maybe it just seems that way). also, smoking on an empty/close to empty stomach will make you feel the nic more. both of those could be responsible for the "high". i dont know about those blends, but they could have more nicotine than other blends you smoke.

edit: sry for repeating ya drawfour

I am eating very little if any sugar, learned to drink Diet Coke. I was thinking the same thing: that the high has always been there, but I never noticed due to my alcohol buzz.

Incidentally, Irish Flake does seem to be higher in nicotene than other blends.

But, my latakia blends don't seem to have the same effects.

I just had a new theory introduced. A friend just suggested that maybe it's the fluid from my zippo which I just switched over to about a week ago.

i highly doubt its the zippo, i use one about half the time and dont notice any difference. as for the latakia, i believe i read somewhere that latakia has lower nic content on average than other tobaccos. Also, where it burns slower and (most likely) you smoke it slower, maybe the nic doesnt hit the same way that a faster smoking blend does.

I really doubt its the zippo. Unless you're relighting every couple minutes, there shouldn't much of an effect. I think it's the Diet Coke, combined w/ eating "lighter" foods (i.e. not as full of a stomach), and not having alcohol to mask it.

Maybe you should just smoke twice as much. :) On the matters of eating and drinking, yes and no to both. Think that depends on the individual and the tobacco.

I don't seem to get a nic buzz when I am smoking something with Latakia. I tend to have those blends as my last bowl of the night since they don't leave too much in the way of a buzz. I found the one which knocks me down every time is my university flake and my vapers always leaving me with a nice floating feeling in the head.

Irish Flake gives me a definate high. I don't mind it so much, but today I was trying to mow the lawn. Took a break to drink some water and puffed on a pipe with left over tobacco. Whoa, not a good idea. Back yard needs to be cut still
