I received this smoke courtesy of DBall as a result of posting here (http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showpost.php?p=1172192&postcount=437).
Beautifully constructed with a light brown wrapper and smooth appearance with only the smallest of veins showing and it has nice study feel. Prelight scent is not the typical barnyard aroma, this had an rather floral fragrance. The triple cap clipped nicely and the test draws were clean and again I noticed the floral factor in the taste as well. Initial taste after toasting the foot and lighting it up were different than I've experienced before, I got this mild soapy taste sensation in my mouth with more of the floral flavors. This was not "bad" just unexpected. The first third didn't impress me. I'm picking up very mild spice and leather tastes the floral scent/taste is still present as well. I'd rate this a mild to medium flavor. The burn is perfect, the ash almost white with small tight flakiness, but not very firm as it dropped off right around three quarters of an inch.
Just into the second third, I'm picking up a faint sweet taste and the general flavor has increased in strength but not greatly. I'm still not greatly impressed, but also not greatly disappointed. I am enjoying the cigar, but have enjoyed others far more.
Beginning the last third the aftertaste was more prominent and reminded me of the taste left after using/chewing on some wood toothpicks, maybe it's a tannin? The burn is still flawless and the ash continues to drop at three quarters of an inch quite consistently. The lingering aroma in the air is quite nice.
At the last two inches, the cigar became soft and mushy, but still held together very well and still burned evenly. The overall taste and flavor seem to remain consistent but as usual, I enjoyed the last third of this cigar the most. At this point, I do not feel I would recommend this cigar, but I would not hesitate giving it a second chance. It lasted just over an hour while I wrote this review and caught up on my forums and email with my morning coffee.
According to http://www.top25cigar.com/reviewdatabase/product.asp?pkID=6638&showprod=yes&catpkID=459 the average price paid by reviewers was $11.00. For my money, I'd do better to invest in 2, 3 or even 4 other labels instead.
Thanks Dan, I appreciate the opportunity to have sampled this one even though I didn't really care for it.
