Dublin to host Gay Rugby World Cup (http://www.planet-rugby.com/Story/0,18259,3551_2926966,00.html)

Wednesday 28th November 2007

Ireland fans still reeling from their side's disastrous tilt at the Webb Ellis Cup need not pack away the bunting just get: Dublin has beaten off bids from Paris and Sydney to win the right to host the 2008 Gay Rugby World Cup.

Endorsed by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), The Bingham Cup will take place at Dublin City University in June of next year, and will be the largest international gay event ever held in the country.

The 32-team biannual event, founded in 2002, is one of the largest amateur rugby tournaments in the world and last year's competition, held in New York, was the biggest yet.

The silverware was named in honour of Mark Bingham who died, aged 30, in the 9/11 terrorist attack on board United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed into a vacant field in Pennsylvania.
