A lot of them must be insane. I've been listening to WWL-870AM (50,000 watts radio station) the biggest radio station in the state. The talk all afternoon and into tonight has been about how Les Miles is taking the Michigan job. Guess who all the insane LSU fans are saying will be the next head coach? NICK SABAN!!!! These are the same fans that were talking about how much they hated Saban just a few weeks ago. Now they are all excited because he and his family were seen in Baton Rouge earlier this week. And they are all talking about how much Saban loves LSU and wants to come back.

Two things:

1. THESE PEOPLE ARE FREAKING NUTS!!!!!!
2. WHATEVER THEY ARE SMOKING AND DRINKING HAS TO BE ILLEGAL!!!

As a Michigan fan I've been following the Miles saga for the past couple days by reading a few LSU forums (tigerdroppings.com, nola.com). I'm very surprised at how many of them think that Saban is a done deal. Seems they feel Saban has been reaching out to important boosters/alum/etc... who knows though, stranger things have happened.

Nick Saban will absolutely, possitively, never ever leave Alabama. There is nothing that would tempt him to leave. He loves it there. The best place he has coached. Never leave.

er.... maybe.:D

ESPN just reported that Miles will leave LSU for Michigan, press conference next week. Have not been able to confirm this elsewhere but this is the first report released to local radio outlets. Good luck today guys, I would like the Vols to win but you guys deserve it.

Seriously, what is wrong with LSU? It is a top job in College football and no one seems to stick around very long.

I bet the president and more so the rich alums are the problem.

I think the best jobs in College football are USC and Hawaii. Jones and Glanville have it made in paradise. I hope Hawaii gets a BCS bid.

LSU is just disgusting this game. This is a far cry from the team 4 years ago, or even the beginning of the season for that matter. I am ashamed of the team this season and the way they have played. Let everyone go their own way and start over with some Louisiana based coaches for a change. Isn't it amazing that all the other top 5 teams over the past several years have kept their staff...USC, OU, Ohio State...not LSU. Always something. Ok, I'm done. :sb:mad:

Dude, you sound like my uncle and mother...

Every time LSU is down they start with the "Oh, this is LSU all over again, Fire Miles, put in the backup QB, LSU is going to lose this one...blah blah blah bitch bitch bitch."

And every time LSU wins I just turn to them and say "You don't deserve to celebrate this win, you fair weather fans."

Come on, LSU may be down but to just completely give up is crazy, especially after this season. Our defense looked great last night, if only we had taken Dorsey out last week we might have won, that is Pelini's fault.

But cheer up, we might (probably) will get a BCS NC Game

Well, Missou lost, VT lost, so the #1 & #2 teams were upset. That means that, barring voters who hate LSU with a passion, we probably will take the second seat in the NC game.

Michigan AD Martin confirms Miles will remain at LSU
December 2, 2007
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan athletic director Bill Martin said Sunday night he did not directly contact LSU coach Les Miles about the coaching vacancy left by Lloyd Carr.

"We asked LSU for permission to talk to Les Miles last week and we were given permission to talk to Les but not until after the SEC Championship game on Saturday," Martin said in a statement. "Les Miles was one of our candidates.

"I did not talk to Les Miles or his agent this past week in accordance with the wishes of (LSU athletic director) Skip Bertman and the LSU Athletic Department," Martin said. "This morning I did speak with Les' agent (George Bass) and he reaffirmed what Les said during his press conference yesterday -- that he was staying at LSU.

"We wish Les and the LSU Athletic Department the best of luck in the future," Martin said. "As for Michigan, we are continuing with the process we established and will continue to talk with and research our list of candidates."

Miles said after No. 5 LSU beat No. 14 Tennessee 21-14 in the Southeastern Conference championship game Saturday that he planned to remain coach of the Tigers, who will play Ohio State in the BCS national championship game on Jan. 7 at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Miles turned down a chance to return to the school where he played and coached, telling his team earlier in the day that he would remain at LSU.

Speculation swirled all last week that Miles would leave LSU and return to Michigan. The Wolverines' job became vacant when Carr announced his retirement.

Miles was questioned about Michigan during his news conference Friday at the Georgia Dome. He had said he planned to talk to Wolverines officials after the SEC game. After the victory, Miles said he never spoke to Michigan and didn't plan to.

Martin has said he is looking for the next Carr, who led Michigan to the 1997 national championship and five Big Ten titles while keeping the school above even suspicions about NCAA violations.

Martin has said he had 20 candidates in mind, and now he'll need them. Possible choices might include Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe, California coach Jeff Tedford and Missouri coach Gary Pinkel.

LSU hired Miles away from Oklahoma State after Nick Saban departed in 2005 to coach the Miami Dolphins.

And why didn't Martin talk to Les' agent before Sunday, or return his frantic calls from Friday when LSU was putting the pressure on Les? Because he was too busy sailing in Florida. Hey, it's the last weekend of the college football season, your in the middle of conducting your schools first search for a head coach outside of the program in 40 years, and your number 1 prospect is ripe for the taking, sounds like the perfect time for an AD to take a vaction, doesn't it?

Just read through most of the stuff available at that link. It's always interesting (to me,anyway) to see the other side of the story. I do take exception to Jim Carty's stance that LSU "is all about the football". I find that a bit condescending and insulting to LSU. LSU is a very fine university and it operates in accordance with the academic standards set by the NCAA for athletes. Carty came off a little bitter and making excuses for the failure of Michigan to field a more competitive football team this year. It sounded like something I would expect to hear from schools like Tulane which has higher academic standards than even Michigan and a team that would probably lose to some of the better high school teams in Louisiana.

Miles was waiting to see if he was going to get a title shot - he wins and he is guaranteed contractually to be in the top 3 highest paid NCAA Div 1 coaches.

WVU beats Pitt, LSU ends up in the Sugar Bowl and Miles goes to MI - just my $0.02.....

You could be about right on that. He original contract guaranteed him a big raise if he won the SEC Championship and another, bigger raise if LSU won the National Championship.

Money can't buy everything, but it sure beats the alternative...
