Another example of why there needs to be a playoff. In this season of upsets, how could anyone not think an undefeated Hawaii doesn't belong in the title game. Pretty sad having a 2 loss team playing for a championship...why does Kansas, with 1 loss, not get any consideration???? I dont get it...looks like the media is driving the ship. After all, OSU and LSU makes a better matchup for TV.....isn't that what it's all about. :BS

well ... straight record isn't exactly a predictor or measure of team strength or success. while HI is undefeated, they had a weak-ass sh*t schedule. even with that weak-ass schedule, look at how many points they *allowed* per game. and KU ... well ... they didn't have the hardest year, either.
All of that said, I'm not so sure OSU is the strongest team either. seems like the computations and calculations need to be refined a bit more.
PS, GO DAWGS!!!

Ain't that the truth!!! Once we went to Florida, the team finally started clicking and really getting things done. The thing I keep taking solace in, though, is that they'll almost all be back next year. :D

Usually, I'd agree with you but in a season when Stanford beats USC, PITT beats WVU and App St beats MICH, who's to say whos schedule is tough or not.....in one game, anything can happen. If you handle your business during the season, I think you deserve a shot....SEC, Big 10 or even the WAC.
If you want to use schedue and performance as a benchmark, LSU won the SEC and OSU won the Big 10, so you can argue that UGA desn't deserve it. Just playin devil's advocate....I dont have a dog in this race, hell, my dog should've been shot before the season started. :tu

The way the polls have pretty much always worked whoever loses they drop and you move up. The "pollsters" knew before this weekend that UGA wouldn't be playing in any kind of championship and they still ranked them #4. So now they have Oklahoma and LSU leapfrog us in the polls? Political, stupid polls. I love college football and I pray someday that we actually have something OTHER than a popularity contest for the NC.

You also have to think of this way, LSU and OU both have additional wins against ranked opponents, which, in my opinion, would give them what they need to jump over a team that didn't even play and didn't even contend for a conference championship.

Hawaii only played one ranked opponent, #19 Boise State. Hawaii's opponents combined, with their awesome total record of 53-92, only beat one ranked opponent, which also happened to be Boise State... so basically Hawaii plus all their opponents combined could only win 2 games against ranked teams... and it just so happens that the team they beat isn't all that great.

Hawaii doesn't play a strong schedule and does not belong to one of the BCS conferences, they can only get into a BCS game as an at large team. Kansas doesn't play a strong schedule and that's why they don't get a higher position in the polls.

Yep, Boise's not too good this year. Hawaii shouldn't be 1, or even near it, or in a BCS game, until they play a real team or two and beat them. OSU in another Champ Game? We'll see if they're any better than last year, or if it's just the Big 10 benefiting from a crappy BCS system, like last year and they'll get destroyed by LSU.

Kansas was good enough to be # 2 a few weeks ago, weren't they??? They play in a BCS confrence, dont they??? What kind of schedule does OSU play??? Kent St, Youngstown St, Akron, Northwester and the rest of the over-rated Big Ten??? The schedule argument can go both ways. All I am saying is if a team, that can potentially play in a BCS bowl, goes undefeated, like Hawaii, they deserve a shot. The NCAA created this mess, now they have to deal with it. As I said before, if APP St can beat MICH, Stanford can beat USC and PITT can beat WVU, why shouldn't Hawaii get a shot???? :tu

I don't think this is a case of whining. By the logic of having to be in a conference championship game in order to move into a NC game then Ohio State shouldn't be anywhere near it. The fact remains Georgia was ranked #4 before any of the games were played...this means the people doing the voting said that Georgia is the 4th best team in the country so if 1 and 2 both lose it would seem to me that they should at the very least be #2.
This whole BCS crap is a complete and utter joke and the fact remains it should be settled on the field.

I will agree with you on the BCS. I agree with you that it should be settled on the field. I'll even agree with you that Ohio shouldn't be in the title game. But the fact remains, Georgia didn't win it's division or make it to the conference championship. LSU did. In my opinion that eliminates Georgia from national title consideration. Of course, that's my opinion and its why I believe there should be a playoff system.

If memory serves me correctly if you run a race and on the final lap the 1st and 2nd place car crash then USUALLY the 3rd and 4th place cars move up. Personally I think the BCS is just BS. Should UGA have moved up? Maybe yes maybe no. Does LSU deserve it mor than UGA because they won the SECC. Yes. Do they deserve it more than Oklahoma? NO. Bottom line it's just a popularity contest. All bowls are BS. We can settle it on the field of play in every other sport in the NCAA EXCEPT Div 1 football.
Yes it is UGA's fault they didn't make it to the SECCG. Just like it's LSU's fault when they lost to lowly UK and Ark. The only difference between the two programs is that you lost the right two games, we didn't.:2

And Ohio State backs into another championship game. I'm not complaining because their exit from the Rose Bowl opened up a New Years Day bowl for Michigan. Now we can both go and get our behinds paddled by superior teams. The Capital One Bowl must be pissed because they really wanted that Illinois - Florida matchup.
And I'm beginning to wonder why the Pac-10 even bothers staying with the BCS given their shoddy treatment year after year. I never believed the East Coast bias existed until I moved out here. You can't tell me that the Pac-10 isn't at least on par with the Big Ten and actually even better this year and yet the only team that ever makes it into the BCS mix is USC.

I'll explain this to you...
LSU beat South Carolina AND Tennessee
Georgia beat Kentucky.
Let's count this up now, LSU beat the two teams you lost to and Georgia beat one of the two teams LSU lost to. You can guess how the Georgia-Arkansas game would have resulted but in the end it is just a guess...personally I think McFadden would have ran all over Georgia.
Georgia didn't make the SEC Championship therefore eliminating you from the NC.
LSU 13-2
UGA 12-2
Nuff' said.
As for Oklahoma...sure they beat Missouri...but come on, Missouri? Missouri lost twice to Oklahoma (therefore proving their stature among top programs) and beat Nebraska (big whoop), Texas Tech (meh), and Kansas (we saw how that worked out). Truthfully, the best teams they played were Oklahoma and Texas Tech...
Yes, LSU lost two games but they lost one to a ranked Kentucky team (fluke) and a very aggressive Arkansas team with a Heisman candidate on it. Chase Daniel didn't deserve to be in the running, IMHO.
Get real people, LSU may have lost twice but at least we lost fighting our hearts out in triple overtime. I could go deeper in depth with how the decision was the right one but I have to go study for class.
As for Georgia...quit your bitching. Get to the SEC Championship and then MAYBE we'll talk.

Let's get this straight. We're talking football, not NASCAR (Kevin Harvick fan) and you can't compare how they determine the winner unless you're talking about one of the Series which is based on points earned over a season and not just the last few weeks.
And like I said, I agree with you on the worthlessness of the BCS but until the universities stand up and do something about it - and give up the millions that the BCS brings in - nothing is going to change other than which fans are whining about being left out.

Well, if there was no SEC Championship game, Georgia would have been 3rd in the SEC but ranked ahead of the first and second place teams. The BCS had their heads up there backsides when they put Georgia at #4. If there was a lack of logic in the BCS last week, it was that Georgia was ranked #4. it is that.
Bottom line is LSU was playing in the post Season and Georgia wasn't. LSU won one more game while Georgia was watching it on TV.

I think everyone more or less gets it, except the bowl organizers and Athletic Directors. You do a Fan Poll and I am sure it would be at least 95% in favor of a playoff system.
