Bull crap. KU shouldn't get in ahead of Mizzou.
I'm pissed. Ruined my whole season right there.

I'm more open to suggestions this time around. :ss
A playoff just seems like it'd create a lot of other issues. I'm still not sure how a team ranked higher than KU, that beat KU and only had one extra loss, because we played one extra game, against the only team to beat us (twice ) didn't get in.
I like run on sentences BTW. :r
Anyway, it boils down to this. Mizzou had their fate in their own hands, and we couldn't come through. We shouldn't have left it up to the luck of the draw.

I think part of it is TV revenue. They say it's 2/3 polls, 1/3 computer but you have to wonder.

mizzou had 2 losses right?? and KU had 1 so thats how they get ahead....KU is going to have thier hands full.

Judging from the rest of the placements, that couldn't possibly be the formula.

Wow, this will probably be the low-rated BCS season that we've been waiting for to force them to go to a playoff system. The whole lineup is retarded and a huge joke. Don't even know where to start. I could go through almost every bowl game, but most importantly:
Missouri gets the shaft, after beating Kansas handily and just being number one, yet Kansas gets the BCS bowl??? Holy crap. Not only that, they play Arkansas, who hasn't had much of a season. Weird matchup there.
Ohio State??? Always getting the advantage. How about they beat a top 20 team; then maybe they can get a real bowl game, since Hawaii is getting held back b/c of their easy schedule. OSU is no different, and they even lost. Hawaii didn't. grrrr...:D

idk was just a thougth...wasn't really worried about them as much as LSU!!!!! man they sneaked up there hopefully LSU and Ohio make it a great game:chk

Mizzou was ranked higher than KU though, in all polls including the BCS. If you go strictly by wins and losses, then Hawaii should be in the championship.

^^^Good point.
Plus, Mizzou beat Kansas recently.
I just think the BCS missed the oppurtunity to put some good matchups in there.

true win loss would put the undefeated team as #1.....another thing would be that mizzou ends up in the same boay as georgia. they don't get into a higher bowl they deserve because they didn't win thier division

But you don't....strength of schedule. For the record, I'd love to see Hawaii get the shot just to mix it up and make it fun.

But then we go back to asking the question as to why KU and not Mizzou? KU didn't win their division, or even their half of the division.

No, I wasn't arguing that we should go by strictly wins and losses, I was responding to the comment that Mizzou was left out because of their record compared to KU. Mizzou had the 20th (26th? I can't remember) something hardest schedule, KU, 109th.
Anyway, KU is going to get killed in the bowl, and OU should probably handle WV fine, but it should be a decent game.

true i guess they just felt bad for KU or someone really wanted to see them get handled big time in a bowl game.....I hope all the bowl games are close though, it gets old watching teams get blown out bad enough that you wanna find another game to watch at halftime...

The BCS means nothing.
Georgia and USC are playing the best football right now and are not in the championship game.
Two teams both beaten by MU and ranked lower made it into a BCS game?
Just goes to show that the BCS has no credibility what so ever.

The national championship shouldn't be decided by "who is playing the best football now" it should be like high school and the NFL - "who wins their district/division automatically gets into the playoffs and then you worry about who has the best records to fill in the wild cards."
The reason college football and the BCS is screwed up is everyone wants to VOTE who is the best team in the nation and it's always someone's home team. If a team wants to be #1, it should have to win its conference first. Sorry for all you teams like Georgia, BUT YOU DIDN'T WIN YOUR CONFERENCE TITLE!!!!

Thing about this is that you're running on two different systems. Maybe the BCS isn't and shouldn't be decided by who is playing the best right now. I can go along with that. However, if that is the assumption under which we're operating, then we need to be consistent. The conference championships do not operate this way. They are decided largely by timing and who plays the best at the right time, rather than by who plays the best throughout the season. So, conference championships, influenced by timing, help decide BCS placements, which are supposed to be a snapshot of the season.

What a minute. Conference championships are decided by timing? I thought conference championship games were determined by the wins/loses to other teams in the conference. LSU won the SEC West because it had the best conference record in the SEC West. Tennessee may have won because of a tie-breaker, but it still came out on top in the SEC East. TIMING HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT! IT DON'T MATTER WHEN YOU WIN OR LOSE A CONFERENCE GAME IT ONLY MATTERS HOW MANY OF THE GAMES YOU WIN.

Going down the list of all the bowl games, I think there are some pretty good match-ups down the line...Michigan vs. Florida (Capital One), Wisconsin vs. Tennessee (Outback), Auburn vs. Clemson (Chick-fil-A), just to name a few.

haha actually, not a bad idea. I was thinking about going out to my friend's farm and fish/hunt for a few days over winter break. I'll have to schedule it in the heat of the bowl season. Better than watching BC and Mich State or Illinois and SoCal. I won't be making much of an effort to watch many games like I did in the past. I find it hard to believe that the BCS and NCAA really thinks that this system makes more money than another system would. They're missing a bigger gold mine than they have, and they're turning a lot of football fans away.
