No predictions. I thought that the Eagles game would have put enough of a scare into the Pats so they would take the Ravens seriously. As I said elsewhere; I can only hope that the Patriots team that everyone was complaining about running up the score is the one that shows up for this game. If not, they're going to have a tough night.

No team can compete at the top of its game every game all year long. The Pats are going through a little slump while other teams are getting up for them as if it were their Super Bowl and they still manage to win. Hopefully the Steelers will be a team the Pats really want to get up for if so it will be a long night for the Steelers.

The Pats are in a little slump. They might lose to the Steelers. They better get it out of their system now or they will lose in the playoffs.
And then the Cowboys will have to beat the Steelers or Colts in the Superbowl.

I doubt it..The way the Pats have been playing and their defense isnt that impressive. If it werent for your good offense they would be losing many games but now teams have figured out how to stop that even..I doubt the pats will be running the score up as much as they have been in the past although after this game, you have nobody else to play..I say the Steelers will dominate even. they just have to score some points but the Pats wont score more than 14 as long as the Steelers D plays their game...

The Pats are old and getting worn down as the season goes on. Don't know if the Steelers will win or not, but to almost lose to two sub 500 teams should be a warning sign to the Patriots.

Does it realy matter how many points they score when they win. ?
Patriots will definately beat them. I think most teams would like the best offence in the league. I guess you cant have both best offence and defence as well.
They are still undefeated and in first and have clinched their division.

My fantasy.......Polamalu on a delayed safety blitz, blind-side sack, Brady carried of the field. Belichick's head explodes, Bruschi and Seau crying and holding each other. Wes Welker curled up in a fetal position, sucking his thumb and Randy Moss ends it all by drowning himself in the Gatoraid dispenser.
A great wail and gnashing of teeth comes from Foxboro," What will we do now? What will we do now?" Loud enough to be heard in the Goodyear blimp flying over the stadium. :ss

The only difference is that calls in favor of the Colts are BAD calls and calls in favor of the Pats are GOOD calls. See the difference?? :D
Seriously though, last night there were plenty of bad calls or non-calls that worked in favor of both teams last night. Personally, I feel that the Pats receivers have been getting mugged way past 5 yards on almost every play for the last three weeks. IMO the refs need to call more defensive holding and PI penalties than they have been. There was DENIFITELY offensive PI on the final play of last night's game that went uncalled not that it mattered in the end. Lots of penalties go uncalled though. It's part of the game.

I'm really feeling a Cowboys vs. Pitt Superbowl.
The Pats are great but something tells me they won't be there in the end. They are not the first team to start off this good. I think they fall like the 05 Colts did
1984 Miami Dolphins 11-0 Lost 16-38 to the 49ers in the Super Bowl
1985 Chicago Bears 12-0 Beat the Patriots 46-10 in the Super Bowl
1991 Washington Redskins 11-0 Beat the Bills 37-24 in the Super Bowl
1998 Denver Broncos 13-0 Beat the Falcons 34-19 in the Super Bowl
2005 Indianapolis Colts 13-0 Lost to the Steelers 18-21 in the AFC Divisional Playoffs

Actually, with all the close games they have been in this season, a little improvement and the Fourth place schedule could get them to around 500 next year.
If Ricky Williams has anything left, and can stay off the grass, that will give a running game. They need to get a good run stopper on the D-Line which you can get as a free agent. Unless Tim Tebow comes out early, trade the #1 for a low to mid first rounder packaged with with other picks. That should be good for some Offensive line help, a stud receiver, and an outside linebacker.
It can be done. I know they are 0-12 but they have some great players, especially on defense. A big turnaround is a possibility.

You NEVER EVER hear the Patriots cry about anything NEVER. The Colts are one of the biggest cry baby teams of this era. Not only does Payton cry about officiating he throws his own players under the bus. Your owner cried to league officials for years about officiating. Payton cries about players being hurt. How this for a little fact. When Payton was missing his receivers this year his top receiver was still better than anything the Pats had last year except he can't perform like Brady can with only average receivers.

There's a HUGE difference between pleading your case to the ref during the game on the field so maybe you get the next call as opposed to doing it at the press conference in the newspapers ect. Something none of the Patriots players or coaches EVER do. Unlike the Colts as I stated in my last post

It's no contest. This year Brady finally has the caliber of receiver that Manning has had for many years and he'll likely set all kinds of new single season records.
Also, Peyton is absolutely one of the biggest cry babies in the NFL. I've never seen a player throw his team mates under the bus so consistently like he does. It's always someone else's fault when they lose. It must be fun to play with him.

Well it seems everything goes the Pats way..That last TD was incomplete and technically the only people who can call time out are the players on the field and the head coach. not the assistant coach..thats what gave you guys the win..BUT, calling the time out was the right thing to do..they had you guys stopped..im just saying that the Pats got lucky and it shouldnt have been that close of a game and they are slipping and if they play that way against the Steelers they will get their ass handed to them..you need to be worried..it aint gonna be easy if the Steelers bring it, which im sure they will.

They are in first, they have a great passing game and offence. They seem to be un-stopable at the moment.

Actually Brady has three rings....
I think he fits in better with names like Bradshaw, Montana, Elway, Aikman, Starr, Staubach,
Even if he never plays another game, he is a Hall of Famer. And it is very possible that he could have a whole fist full of rings before he is done.

Well, I'll say this much and ya'll won't hear from me until after the game on Sunday.
Tom Brady is a HOF QB, and is "The Man" in the NFL. What I can't stand about him and Belichick are their smug, arrogant, attitudes. For example, today Brady was talking about the accusations, from the Ravens. In a nutshell, he said it was an exciting game , and he hopes everyone will be bored with the next one, but he didn't think it was going to be that way.
I take that as, he wants to or thinks they will run up the score.
Well, like Coach Tomlin said," This isn't Appalachian State vs Michigian!!"
And I don't wish any career ending/life threatening injuries, to anyone. But, my Steelers are a smashmouth football team, on both sides of the ball. I hope Brady gets "smashed in the mouth", plain and simple.

At every level of football, from pee-wee on up the goal is to win - every.single.game. Why would the NFL be any different?
I respect what the pats have accomplished - that said, I hope my beloved Steelers treat him like the Bears did the Pats in SBXX.
I couldn't care less who wins this game. Both teams are pretty good = have quality QBs and strong defenses. I just like to watch two good teams play exciting football - the blow outs were not exciting to watch. The last couple of Pats game were good - I think this will be a good game - because it will be a hard fought, close game.
My prediction - the team that scores the most points will win.

Agreed,
The job of an offense when it is on the field is to score points. If an offense is not on the field to score, then what is it doing there? As far as I am concerned there is no such thing as running up the score. The Pats just like the Cowboys or Colts are on that field to score TD's period. The best way for a team to keep the Pats from running up the score is to beat them. I do hope that the Steelers beat the Pats, but if the Pats run up the score on them; I won't blame the Pats. I will blame the Steeler's defense.:2

They are just picking them apart now. Brady is making it look easy. And the clown who guaranteed a win gets beat for a few TDs.
Jets and Dolphins are going to throw everything they have at them. Look for a lot of go for it on 4th and crazy blitz packages the next two weeks.

:ss

I've been studying all day Sir Tony called me and told me it was a 2 pt game at half then I took a break and flipped the game on in the 4th quarter and wondered what the heck happened. I'd like to see the Pats lose, but would LOVE to see them lose in the Super Bowl to the Packers :)

More whining about the refs?? But I thought Pats fans and players don't whine about the refs? Your ability to live in the past is astounding:r:D
And yeah, the Colts are real Dolts, especially when it comes to building a team through the draft. You're a real student of the game,:r
Normally I dont get involved in the ref complaining thing but in that colts pats game championship game the nfl apologized to the patriots for the bad game costing call. Thats an enormous difference as its a rarity for the nfl to apologize for anything.
NFL apology Colt comfort for Hobbs - N.E. Patriots - BostonHerald.com
FOXBORO - Ellis Hobbs [stats] has insisted since the AFC title game loss to the Colts that he was improperly flagged for pass interference in the end zone.
The league not only agrees with him, it let him know it.
Hobbs received a letter during the offseason apologizing for the blown call, which led to the touchdown that tied the game at 21 in the third quarter.
“It’s a little late for that now,” Hobbs said with a sigh. The penalty came on second-and-7 from the Patriots [team stats] 19. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning targeted a streaking Reggie Wayne down the sideline, but Hobbs stayed with him stride for stride, cutting short his pursuit to avoid the contact that would have resulted in a penalty. He watched Wayne’s eyes, slightly turned his head and leaped while the ball descended. It hit him in the left arm and Hobbs was immediately flagged by referee Bill Carollo.
TV analyst Phil Simms labeled it face-guarding - the act of not turning to look for the ball - which is no longer illegal. The play is only a penalty if Hobbs makes contact with the receiver, which he was careful not to do.
Manning then hit former Patriots defensive lineman Dan Klecko with a 1-yard score, and the two-point conversion tied the game.
Hobbs has insisted ever since that the call should not have been made, a point he made forcefully after the game.
“I’ll say it publicly - that wasn’t pass interference,” Hobbs said. “I didn’t touch the guy. The ball hit me in the back of the arm. He put his hands up and I’m just trying to play through his hands. I didn’t look back, but I didn’t touch him. You make the call. Watch that replay and tell me if it’s pass interference.”
It’s little consolation now, but Hobbs was right.

1) As far as I know, the league doesn't send apology letters to individual players. Sounds to me like just another bs lie. So if Hobbs has it, he should produce it.:2
2) A couple of years ago the Patsies flat out mugged, held, and tackled the Colts wide receivers and cheated their way through a playoff game with the Colts. It was so bad that the NFL actually apologized for the officiating to the Colts and THAT is a known fact undisputed by anyone. It was so bad that the NFL completely rewrote the rules for illegal contact so that the refs couldn't ignore those tactics anymore. ... But that doesnt change the outcome of that game, does it?:chk
Stop the whining. Please. Both of those games are over with. In the alternative my niece has a cute little pink hankerchief to go with your skirt, you can use it at the next patriots game you go to:r:r

A. I'm not whining I dont care either way. just pointing out a known fact sorry it wasn't know to you.
B. On your part 2. Yes the pats mugged the Rams in the superbowl too. That was the strategy. The NFL altered/re-emphasized certain aspects of the rule AFTER the game and AFTER whining by polian.
I do go to pats games but no pink skirts. Maybe you can get some other guy to wear one for you:r

I think you put it best when you said "stop the whining" and this CLEARLY qualifies as whining. 3 Superbowl rings (probably soon to be 4) to 1 that's all I'll say.
Anyway, bad officiating always evens out in the end IMO. Sometimes you're on the winning end of a bad call and sometimes you're on the losing end.

Sounds like your getting a bit personal as far as "student of the game" I don't even know what your point is, but if you want to talk about drafting Pats have some of the best draft days of any team. You might want to do your homework http://bestsmileys.com/kissing1/1.gif

I bet a Tom Brady is better than Peyton Manning thread will work. But this year, it is no contest. So we have to compare Brady to both Manning Brothers.
I mean Brady has 45 TD passes....and when you add Peyton and and Eli's TD passes this year, they have a total of 45 Combined. But the Manning Brothers have a combined total of 30 interceptioons....which is 6 times the 5 that Brady has thrown.

Your Cowboys are no different. They beat the Rams 35-7 and the Jets 34-3.
So if the Pats are sh*theads for running up the score, then so are the Cowboys. Only difference is the Cowboys haven't had the ability to be sh*theads more often.
:r
just saw this..
Yes, they are different..When they realized they had them beat and there was no way they could come back. They took their starting QB out of the game for his protection, both times with more than 7 minutes left in the game and ran the ball every play after that...Not throwing the ball every down to humiliate the other team..The Pats are the best but they have no class IMO..say what you want..

In the Jets game Brad Johnson came in at 3:51, and they ran the ball for one drive. With one first down they were able to run the clock down to :20. Against the Rams, same thing from 5:31 to 0:00.
So, in the last few minutes, they ran the clock down, ok...
Now look at one of the Pats biggest blowouts, against the Redskins... With 8:30 left, they put in Cassel. Still quite a bit of time left which is presumably why they didn't just run - Cassel makes some passes. Next drive at 3:00 they put Gutierrez in and run.
How about a game they won by a similar margin to the two Cowboys games I mentioned... Bills game week 3.
1st possession of the 4th quarter they get a touchdown and make it 38-7.
Next possession, with 8:15 left, they put in Cassel, who doesn't attempt a pass. Next possession at 5:57, again they only run.
Week 1 - they primarily run for the whole 4th quarter
I started to look at more games but I don't have time for this.
Freddy, get beyond the Jealousy and look at the Facts!
