Not sure if this has been reviewed yet or not. I believe this was the belicoso 1970.

Pre light draw: Didn't pick up on any distinct flavors before I put the torch to it, just tobacco.

First third: The draw was immediate and good. No playing around getting it to toke, instant smoke clouds. I was surprised at the boldness of those first puffs. At about the first inch I detected some earthy, peaty flavors. Nice.

Second third: Burn turned a tad uneven, had to correct it. Hints of cocoa. Had to set it down for about 1 min. the damn thing goes out. The dreaded relight.

Final: Ash falls off about five min. after relight. Some herbal/floral notes. All in all I enjoyed this strong smoke. It was well constructed with just the right amount of resistance to the draw. Uneven burn throughout but that I can live with. Yessir I just might pick up a box of these. :ss

Good review. I really like the DPG Blacks and Blues. Both have a different taste and both are, to me, great tasting smokes.

These have very quickly become one of my absolute favorite smokes. The construction and flavor are absolutely perfect and I get everything I want from a cigar out of these.

I smoked a robusto Sunday night and it was delicious. I then smoked a CAO Brazilia Pirannha and it seemed absolutely flavorless after the Pepin. I like the Brazilias but obviously must remember to smoke them first.

Thanks for the review! I just picked up a couple of these as part of a Pepin sampler on c-bid. Did you age this cigar at all before smoking it?

Nice review,

I love all DPG stuff. Especially the Black and Blue labels. They are best between 64-66% RH :tu

More of a rest than aging. Aging refers to years rather than weeks or months. Wait a week or two after getting them before smoking and be sure to store them between 60-65% rh, as Pepin suggests.

Nice review. I like these till about the half-way point then they all, except the Perla I really like that one, seem to dramatically go from the strong side of medium to the mild side and lose a little flavor. Maybe it's just me.
