A few weeks ago while I was at the JR outlet in suburban Detroit I noticed the Taste Test Samplers. I ended up buying the Robusto Sampler # 4 H Upmann - El Ray Del Mundo 8 pack. They have about 2 months of rest on them so last night I decide to give one of the H Upmann's a try.
After grabbing the stick, cutter and torch lighter I headed for the patio for an hour of quite time - something I have had little of lately. The pre-light aroma and taste were nice, not great and not bad - nice. Stick looked very good, no construction flaws I could detect, smooth cameroon wrapper, some veining and a hint of oil.
The draw was just the way I like it a slight effort to get a good volume of smoke. I toasted the foot, lit the stick and let it rest for a moment before I took my first full draw. Taste was mild to medium in strength with some spiciness. My unrefined palate could not detect any other flavors.
The burn was even with only a couple touchups required near the end. I did have to relight the cigar towards the end and also noted some burn issues as well. These problems were all near last 1/4 of the stick.
I'm going to give these sticks some more humi time and see what develops. Overall if the price is right I'd keep a few in the humi.
