I love this cigar ! The strength is just right for me and I like the creamy and subtle flavors of this cigar. A few times I got a funky smoke taste, but otherwise for a relatively new smoker, this cigar met my desires in a lot of ways. Turns out I got 4 torpedos last summer in a sampler package which I haven't smoked yet so I'm looking forward to it ! I'm really starting to fall in love with the CAO line as nothing from them has disappointed me yet.
I want to try the CAO Black but it seems like CBid is the only place to get them. Anyone know if the flavor profile is similiar to the Gold?

I agree with you it is my go to cigar it was my first box i bought. As for the CAO flavors I haven't tried them but I've heard good things about them. The Blacks are also a very good smoke. :w

When I tried this cigar the draw was kinda plugged, but it tasted pretty good. If I remember it was on the milder side....I'd recommend the CAO Maduro as well. Different taste, but Ohhh so good. :D

Being a relative newbie, I have only had the pleasure of enjoying a CAO Criollo Pato. What a wonderful cigar. I, too, am looking forward to trying the others in the CAO line.

I'm also hooked on CAO line. You should also like the Criollo's. The Extreme and the Brizillia are good flavors too, but pack a punch. More on full body, but very flavorful.
You might try something in the Perdomo line, too. I really have been impressed with the Predomo's I've tried out in the last several weeks. Then I found out that they are made by the same people that make CAO. No wonder I like them so much!

Same thought at the same time. Very weird.

Don't think I've ever met a CAO I didn't like.
I believe there is a site that carries a CAO 2nd called Revolucion. Try www.bestcigarprices.com.

The CAO black is very different from the Gold. Not my favorite to be honest. But I do like the Brazilias and the Italia's :D

I'm with ya'll in the CAO camp...I've tried several and only been disappointed once (I think that was a humidor issue, too wet).
If you are a maduro fan, you might want to give the MX2 a try. I think those are my fav CAO. Lots of good flavor but not too strong. Good balance.

I seem to recall the CAO Gold being a bit more full bodied than the Italia and Brazilia .. However, its been a good 6 months or more since I've had ne, so I dont remember at all. Would you consider it to be fuller/heavier than the italia's?

Mx2 was my fav for a long time but i had a brizila and now it is my fav. Has coco and peppery flavor to it. I am trying all of the line right now probably goin to one of each in my humi for a long time.
My cousin was just telling me about these the other day. He really enjoyed them and is starting to enjoy many of the other cigars in the CAO line. I will have to give them a try. Thompsons has a deal that is posted in the vendor section of the site for 10 cigars and a leather humi. 4 of the sticks are CAO Golds. Might be worth a look.

Not in my experience - and I think most of the comments you'll read on CS are exactly the opposite. In fact, I think most find that the Brazilia and Italia are the most full-bodied offerings from CAO. The Gold is usually very mild -

Not a fan of the Gold, although I like the Brazilias.

I gotta go with seangar on this one, the gold is not one of my favs, I'd rather an MX2, Brazilia, or an Italia.

i think they're ok, but they're kinda expencive for an ok smoke. i always pick up the italia or the brazilia, funny names but serious smoke,. any one tried the CAO black? i've only found em on CI, but i don't wanna buy a box of em with out trying a few first or even hearing anything about em. if anybody's had one send me a pm and let me know how it was, thanks

I was the winner on CBid of the 6-stick office humidor filled with 3 CAO Golds and 3 CAO L'Anniversaire.
Just had a CAO Gold tonight. What a great smoke that was. I love the sweet taste, as well as the nutty taste I can still feel even ten minutes after I finished it. Had it with some Jack Daniels, which just added to the flavor. I recommend it if you're looking for a mild-bodied, flavorful smoke. This was my first CAO, so now I'm on the hunt to try out the rest of the CAO line.
Any suggestions??

I had the golds a couple of years ago and I just found them to be very bland, I just got back to smoking after my trip from Cuba last week and would like to give the Pirhanas a shot and hope they aren't as bland as the golds.

Just tried a gold got the longest one i forgot what it is called. Don’t get me wrong the smoke was good and creamy with hints of other flavors but I just kind of got sick of this cigar. It probably was the length of the cigar that did it I am not rating it bad I just want a smaller cigar or have it more complex. :2
