View Full Version : Padron Fumas, mmmmmmm.

I smoked my first Padron Fuma last night. I loved it. It was an easy smoke with no bad aftertaste. What really surprised me was the amount of smoke this thing produced, whoa! My fiance' walked out onto the porch, saw all the smoke, and asked how many sticks I was burning. "Just one, woman. Now get backin the kitchen and make me a sammich." I replied. j/k

Alright, I will rank this one #3 on my list of repeatable smokes after the Montecristo Especial #1 and Onyx Reserve. From what NCRadioMan told me, this cigar only runs $1.65, perfect for a PBS who just found out he's about to be more broke. I may soon be trying to trade in order to obtain more of these kids as none of the tobacco shops within the three counties around me carry them.

I wouldn't say it's too heavy. It's probably 7" long or so with a fairly small gauge, maybe around 38. I'll do some research to see what I find.

Is there a CAO event at Montfort cigars tonight? I planned to make it, but I have to make a car deal this evening.

Okay, I did some quick research and found this link. Most sites list a box of 25 for around $40 and the cigars measure 6.5 x 44. And, I read that they also come in a maduro. I'll need to try a maduro before selling off any possessions in order to pick up a box.http://www.famous-smoke.com/cigars/search/stats.cfm/inum/18972

Glad you liked it Tim.

My workstation is down, or I'd be able to tell you where to get these cheap. Better yet, PM TxMatt and he'll guide you in the right direction. From what I understand, he got a bundle of these for $.80 apiece - yes, 80 cents!

These are probably the best short filler smoke on the planet.

PM sent Tim!

I have said this before; I will say it again. When you come across a BOTL here from Miami; suck up to them! The Fumas sold nationally for $1.60 to $2 nationally are available in Miami for 80 cents each.

The only difference between the two is the Miami ones have the regualar Padron brown band instead of the special Black band the national ones have. They also come in bundles instead of boxes. If the box or band is worth paying 2X the price more power to ya. :D

What even fewer people know about is that there are two other mixed filler Padrons in Miami that don't have a national release equivalent: Cazadore (pretty much the Fuma but with a regular cap instead of the curly one), and the #4 which is a shorter stick (maybe 5.5" or so?). Each of those are also in the sub $1 range per stick.

So send your favorite Miami Botl a few nice sticks and they may be willing to get you Fumas, Cazadores, or #4s for under $20 a bundle (+shipping).

-Matt-

p.s. the new desireable "BOTLs to suck up to" candidates live in the Las Vegas, NV area; Casa Fuente only sells in store.

Well, looks like I need to start looking for new friends from Miami? Anyone from Miami want to be my friend? I'll send you a cookie and say nice things about you. Wait, all my money is going to the wedding right now. I might not be able to make any Miami friends until I build my cigar fund back up. Stupid wedding bills. :c

Top: Miami #4
Middle: Miami Cazadore
Bottom: National release Fuma.

The Miami Fuma is identical to the national Fuma save for it comes bundled and has the brown band of like the top 2. Hopefully this clears up any confusion .

That #4 has about 7 hours left in its current form. It will soon be ashes on SH-121 :w

By the way, there is at least one more Miami BOTL here, so don't pick on poor Nelson too much.

I just threw that figure in there, I believe it was $26-$27. I used UPS and it was a little more to ship. The Fumas are still .80 to .85 The number 4's and cazadores are about 1 dollar. But I think the large priority box will be able to fit in the bundle. If it does than shipping would be the customary $4.30.
so lets see:*bringing out the calculator*

.80x25=$20 plus 1.40tax plus $4.30shipping=$25.70

$1.00x25=$25 plus 1.75 tax plus 4.30 shipping=$31.05

I could add travel time and gas to the price but I decide to be a nice monkey and I don't. :D

So yes Matt, they are still very cheap down here.

I may be looking for a new best friend from Miami when I return from my honeymoon in two weeks. The problem is, my wife-to-be wants to get a dog when we return. I can only afford one of the two right now, so I'm torn between fumas and a new dog. Both will give me lasting memories and make time fly by, but one just tastes sooooo much better than the other. mmmmmm, dog..I mean, Padron.

Read this sentence more carefully: "The Miami Fuma is identical to the national Fuma save for it comes bundled and has the brown band of like the top 2."

It sounds like you got a Miami Fuma. Probably whoever you bought them from (was it serious cigars?) got them in Miami. I actually bought a Fuma from SeriousCigars.com, but I didn't look at the band that closely, I'll check it when I get him.

Ahh ic. The Fuma I had yesterday was a Miami Fuma then. The ones I bought just now from Seriouscigars is the national release.

On to the review:

The stick was mild in flavor. Had the Padron taste along the way, but a sour, short finish. Ash was flaky but burn was very even. At less than $2, I would say this stick is pretty nice... but I may choose the AF Curly Head Deluxe Maduro instead since they run about the exact same price, same size, but different tastes.

Post again when you smoke the other kind, I'd be curious to see if there's any difference between national and Miami (Besides 2x the price). Doubtful, but who knows.

I smoked one of these tonight, received from Dustin in one of his blind buys. What a good mixed filler cigar. Padron flavor through and through, but for an enjoyable grassy flavor in the first third...a lot of times that's not a good thing (to me anyway), but this time it was subtle and enjoyable.

Do they make these anymore? I had to do a pretty creative search just to figure out what I was smoking! :r

Volfan, (Scottie) stopped in a shop in New Orleans over a year ago and picked up a handfull. He knew I was looking for them so he told me about it and I called and grabbed the last 2 unopened boxes they had.

They're probably more out there somewhere, but since its not a premium, searching the web is probably not the way to go. I would try asking in every B&M you go in or pulling out the yellow pages and start making calls.
