Always out of the wrapper...
If your humidor is properly set, this is the absolute best way to age your premium cigars.

There is no right or wrong way. It's just personal preference. No proof that taking cello off ages sticks better.

Search around the forums, there is lots of really good info on this topic.

The plastic doesnt have holes in it , but the cello aint sealed at the bottom, so even with that small opening the moisture gets in it the same way.

If you are aging the cigars, you would want to leave the cigars in the cellophane. It slows the aging process, thus, the slower the aging, the better the cigar.

I leave them on unless they don't come with cello, i.e. LGC Serie R.

Cello is made from paper, therefore it does breath. Leaving them in should be fine, it's my prefernce too!

Cubans don't come in cello, hence I do not have a problem :D

I leave them on. It helps protect the cigar from possible damage from handling them.

I take em off and eat them.

Leaving the wrapper on will help to protect your investment - if it's cello.

There's SOMEBODY here I know who collects cello for his cigars. He may show up to put in his :2 eventually.

Guilty as charged. There have been so many valid reasons to have your cigars in cellophane, that I have taken to covering those without, with the wrappers from those I've smoked.

There are a few key reasons why you SHOULD leave the cello on.

1) Protection from damage in handling
2) Minimizes beetle damage
3) Buffers swings in RH
3) Aging is not impeded, and some argue that it's better

I store them how they were received. Sometimes in, sometimes out.

I've never noticed a difference on or off with aging or humidity/RH...so, i put em in however they come.

I've noticed that unless you store whole boxes of smoke, then leaving them in the wrapper will protect them from damage.

Celophane is porous, moisture will exchange, in or out. I once liked 'em much better naked, just dressed up my beautiful humidors much more nicely. But after seeing too many wrappers (the natural cigar wrapper) damaged, I now leave all celophane on. You will too, most likely, eventually.

I leave mine in cellophane that way each one is like a little present that you can unwrap. Also it protect the cigars. Everybody has their clumsy moments.

Cellophane is not like regular plastic, it is a different substance altogether, it is porous and will allow moisture in or out of it so there is no reason to take it off. It also allows for the exchange of gases necessary to age cigars. Leaving it on only protects your sticks. The only reason to remove it is to make your cigars look better in the humidor.

I have no choice. The bulk of my cigars come without wrappers. Beside my cigars are holding up well without the wrappers for years.

I wish I had that problem.

Oh lordy! Pass the popcorn. J/k!

Anyways, I leave the cello on, and even add cello to singles if they come without it. I don't like having singles without cello.

What a lot of people don't realize (and I didn't either until I did a lot of research on this topic a while back) is that the cellophane is porous. That is, it doesn't need holes or the bottom of the wrapper to be open because air penetrates the wrapper. As you can tell with the diverse range of responses you've gotten from your original question, there is no "right" way of doing it.

For my humis, I usally keep the cigars naked because I like the looks of it and they probably age slightly faster. However, there are times when I keep the cellophane on and that is only when I have different brands stacked on top of each other or when I know I'm going to give it away to someone at some point.

Therefore, I believe the issue really comes down to what looks better to you and whether you handle your cigars much and need to protect them (which the cellophane will do). An argument could be made that keeping the cellophane off helps in the aging process. However, if it does, I believe it is very minor.

Well-said King Cat. I leave all my cigars naked due aesthetical reasons. Though I keep all the cello wrappers in a box so I can use them if I give away a cigar or bring them out to a short trip before I smoke them.

Most of my cigars are out of the cello , however lately I've been leaving the cello on to protect them in transit . I've noticed that when I leave them in the cello that they take a little longer to even out in my humi as compared to the shop RH level . :u

Excellent experiment!

In my 25/12 count (execution) humidor I leave them off. They'll be smoked soon enough. However, in my Vicksburg, I take the cello off on the top visible shelves and leave the cello on for the stogies at the bottom and bottom (non-visible) shelves. The ones at the top only get handled when they're de-cello'd and when they're moved for execution.
