Well, need a new thread for this one.
Don't forget to set your lineups before tomorrow night.
Go Pats!!!!
Thanks Julian for resurrecting the Fantasy thread. All those cigar pics are gone. I'll post them back up when I get home tonight. Man this is such a blast from the past.

And that's why you took Brady and Vinatieri, right?

Losman is too young and inexperienced and Vinatieri seems to kick a lot and accuarately.

Well Brady had a decent night yesterday. Over 300 yards passing and 2 TD's. Vinatieri had only 1 FG.
It was so nice sitting back and watching some football. I love hearing John Madden's non-sensical ramblings.

close, close game JDO.
You still have 2 players left though. I hope your TE does as little as mine did...
Yeah we seemed to be pretty evenly matched. Alge better have 3 TDs tonight.
Guess I should have taken Lindell. 5 FGs yesterday ;)

I wish I got in your league JDO but I am in a Pay league on nfl.com. $100 to get in and the top prize gets 700 while 2nd gets 500. I won Wk one by the skin of my teeth. Decided to start the Bronco's RB M Anderson instead of D Davis from Houston. I was right not to start Davis but Anderson got me a Big fat 0. Jason Witten got me 1 lousy pt at TE which was another big dissapointment. What saved me was Larry Fitzgeralds big day at WR and the fact that my opponent's QB was Mcnabb who stunk it up Monday night. I ended up winning 70 to 67. The Lowest scoring winner of the wk in my 12 team league but a winner none the less. I also did some major overhauling via the Waiver wire. I picked up RB Willie Parker from the Steelers. Should have another big wk plying against Houston. I also Dumped Kyle Boller at Qb for Drew Bledsoe. a good #2 option at QB since my Starter Hasselback was shaky last wk. Also picked up Detroits Defense/ST and dumped the Bengals. They just allowed too many passing Yards against the Browns. I also picked up the Jets TE C Baker and dumped my backup cris cooley.
I was recruiting players for about a month. Almost didn't have enough to make a league. I would have taken you. Maybe next season. :D

yeah, what was all the hype about with the vikings this year?? they lose their BEST player, their starting running back is suspended for drugs, and now they are going to get better??? Culpepper blows, and the ONLY reason Burleson got any stats last year is b/c of moss...

I don't like Vikings, but they have talent and they will swing things around. Burleson is a talented guy with or without Moss, he'll get the job done as soon as Culpepper remembers how to pass the ball. Tice also needs to quit playing around and just put Moore in the backfield and production will start.

randy moss left....thats what happened to Dante
So since we are talking about poor performances, lets talk the Bills.
I had high hopes for the game this week and it turned out very wrong. JP looked like what he is, an inexperienced, young player. I can't count how many times he overthrew the ball. He lost his composure on the safety and stepped out of bounds. McGahee had nothing for the Bucs defense.
I saw the Bills team that I was afraid to see, the one that is out played and out muscled from beginning to end. Its going to be an interesting season to say the least.
I have faith though that JP will improve and that the defense will be the driving force of the team.

In case anyone was wondering about the Power rankings, I found this in the NFL help system..
What are the Power Rankings which are available from the Standings page?
The Power ranking of a team is based on the team's standing in three categories:
1 )Win/Loss Record
2) Total Points
3) Breakdown
The Breakdown category calculates how your team would have done had it played all the other teams each week of the season.
Within these categories, "power" points are awarded Rotisserie-style. For example, if there are 12 teams in your league, the team with the best Win/Loss record would receive 12 points for that category, the team with the next best record would receive 11 points, and so on, with the team with the worst record receiving 1 point. The same ranking system is applied for Total Points and for Breakdown. The scores for each category are then totaled to create the overall Power ranking.
To see the power rankings for a previous week, select a week number above the report.
You can also print or e-mail the standings, or save them to an Excel spreadsheet, by clicking the appropriate icon in the top right corner of the page.

I would like to propose a friendly trade with someone.
I have the predicament of having both my starting QB's with bye weeks next week. I would like to trade with someone for their second stringer they don't plan on using for week 7. After week 7's games are over, then I would like to trade back so I can have my QB back and you can have yours back.
If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I would rather not dump one of my QBs because they have both done well for me and I don't want to chance putting them on the open market.
PLEASE, I need your help.
Thanks in advance.

I pretty much in the same boat as you this week.
You're in charge of the league and it's your call, but in the league I run and the others that I play in for money we don't allow that sort of thing to go on, we consider it collusion. I understand what your intentions are, but it's a slippery slope to start treading on.

In one of the other leagues I am in, we have a mandatory 3 weeks wait period before you can trade a player back to the team you acquired him from. In addition, the commissioner must approve all trades.
Just my :2 , but I agree that it is kind of like collusion to set up a deal like this. I don't have any issues with trading for a QB because of bye week issues, but it's the wink wink, I will trade him back to you after this week that brings issues.

I'm going to have to take you out, so I can make the playoffs. L.J. Smith will putt up enough points for me tonight. You must be beat!

As far as I can tell, Burning Stogies, Kentucky Jellyfish, and myself are going to be the division winners regardless of what happens this week. Then it looks like Combatants, Purple Glitch, Hurricane Ditka, and snscnr2003 are fighting for the wild card.

That is the same assessment I came up with. Good Luck to everyone.
Jason, what was the breakdown on the cigar distribution for the winners?
That information got erased back when CS had the server issues a few months back.

48, 12 as far as I remember.
Although I think there are quite a few more than 60 total.
edit - or i could be completely wrong

Hey guys.
Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I have been quite busy with work and the holidays and buying a new car. Anywho we were going to do a breakdown of 75% 25% for the winner and runner up respectively.
So 45 and 15. I will take a look at the selection to see how to break it up. I don't think its entirely fair to give the higher end smokes to the winner so I will try to sprinkle each with the better stuff. The winner gets more of course.
I am not certain of the final count of sticks. We had one person who did not send their contribution but I think everyone else's contributions over and above the original 5 sticks will more than make up for it.
Sadly, I have missed the playoffs with a less than phenominal 5-8-1 record. I was involved in 3 fantasy leagues this season and the one I cared about the least is the one that I am doing very well in. Oh well.
I can't wait to see what the playoffs bring us with the league. Will the regular season champ carry his momentum all the way through to the Super Fantasy Bowl? We'll find out.

You have already beaten me down twice this year, so 3rd time has to be the charm for me.
Although, that Larry Johnson train has a full head of steam.......
At any rate...bring it on.. :bx

Let me be the first to congratulate Glovepuppy and Hurricane Ditka for the Club Stogie Fantasy Football Championship!
I know the Bears Defense is good, but they aren't good enough to overcome the lead that HD has put up.
Great Season and I am ready for next year.....
Well that does it for the first annual CS Fantasy Football championship.
Congrats to Glovepuppy!!
I will send out yours and G-man's (Roger that is your screen name right? I have it on my laptop. I can check later) winnings at some point this week. I just need to figure out who gets what.
Thanks everyone for participating. Hopefully you all had fun with it. Can't wait for next season to get another one of these going.

Yes, a huge thanks to Jason for organizing this, keeping it going and holding the prizes.
Thanks to all who played. What a great group of BOTL's and SOTL's. There was never a dull moment this year. Hopefully everyone will be back next year.
And finally, I must thank Coach Ditka. Without him my dream could have never been realized.

I would certainly be gracious enough to allow the runner up the distinction of smoking the John T.

Since we both agree that it would be an honor, I would be honored if our gracious host for the league would do the honors and smoke and review the John T.
Is that enough Honor for you?:D
I forgot to whom I sent the John T.
I believe that it went to the victor.

Got the goods in yesterday's mail - WOW!!!!!
Thanks again for everyone that contributed such a beautiful selection of cigars. I had a blast w/ in the league this season (I would have even if I didn't win, ... but winning may have made it a bit better ... but i digress).
There was a really cool custom made cigar poker in their that someone made (Floydp's??) that has CS Fantasy Football League Champion burned into the woood. Very nice. Thank you for that. There was also an unmarked cigar with a really sweet custom label on it. Also very cool.
Thanks again everyone for the great prizes. Maybe I get a picture up if I ever go out and get a digital camera like I've been planning to do (OK - like the wife's been hounding me to do).
Yes the Floydp's made the custom poker and the custom band cigar. Very nice editions for the winner.

Sounds nice.
If only.............
I also got my 2nd place package from Jason and was pleasantly surprised as there were a number of cigars in there on my "To Try" list that I won't have to search for now.
Thanks to everyone for playing, I am looking forward to year two.
