This is about the movie Memento. It's an older movie (2000), so no reason to throw it in the entertainment reviews. You can say it's a good flick here if you want-
But I just want to discuss possible explanations of the film.
I'm still undecided.
Some people believe Lenny is Sammy Jankis. I don't believe this. It's a possibility as Lenny is so messed up...
I'm either going to say that Sammy is a part of Lenny's subconscious or was actually a real dude.
I'm on the fence as to whether Teddy was a liar or not as well. I actually think that it might be possible that Teddy was the real John G... and just hung around with Lenny just to confuse Him and "help him" so he'd never get caught- that and he also obviously used Lenny to get what he needed (money).
Did Lenny kill his wife? Was she diabetic? I'm also on the fence about the one, though it seems most plausible.
Here's what I think- Lenny's problem isn't nearly as bad as He thinks it is. He supresses the truth by making his problem worse than it is (I think it's more psychological than anything) because he indeed killed his wife as she was diabetic. Sammy Jankis is all a part of his subconscious which he's created for himself to justify what He did, as is The first or second tatoo he got- "John G raped and murdered my wife". He didn't want to remember he killed his wife...so he does a fairly good job of blocking that out. At the end of the movie you see a scene with him and his wife together- with a tatoo on himself saying "I did it" which wasn't there in the entire movie, minus that one scene. I think at that moment He remembered he indeed killed his wife...places the tatoo on himself in the vision, and immediately after *forgets* and heads to the tatoo parlor.
I dunno how to explain it really. All I know for sure is that Lenny has an extremely distorted sense of reality, and Natalie and Lenny use him.
Great film. I love it. One of em that I'll keep watching and never piece together probably. Some people hate it because of that... I love it myself.
