It's currently -54C with the wind where I am (that's -63.8F for you southern folk) and I'm thinking there's no way in God's green earth I could even light a cigar, let alone smoke it. And I really want one...

So, what extremes will you brave to enjoy a cigar?

Probably around 15 F (-9.4 C). I was out of propane for my heater in the barn, so I smoked in the cold.

I dunno. I smoked a cigar outdoors in January in Toronto on a windy day but they use crazy canadian measurements to measure temperature. I think it was like -10 with windchill :r

About -20F. But I was in my hot tub and there was no wind, the wind is the killer. Its gunna be about -20F today again with windchills around -40. I went out and took the cover off the hottub first so I could just run and jump in, then I lit the cigar in the house quick and made a B line to the hot tub.

:r

We had a 50 degree day on sunday in Colorado...I just about put my shorts and flip-flops on and ran around in the sprinklers. It isn't supposed to get above 30F for another week and will hit below 0 F almost every night with wind chill.

Fortunately for me I smoke at my B&M in the winter months. :tu

When I was working in Prudhoe Bay and would have to take the Cat out to do some pressure readings, I'd smoke in the cab and it would be -80 to -90 outside. I'd bundle my big ass up, run out and take the readings I needed, then get back in the cab and keep smoking my Flor de Olivas while I got warm. Great way to spend 10-18 hours every day.

you are spoiled. I was in Novosibirsk last January when it was about -13 F and decided to go smoke, never again, never again.

:r Sounds like me. If it is raining or snowing I only turn up half the cover, set out my ashtray and a couple of beers...light the cigar inside and make a mad dash for the tub. At night it has been in the 20's but it is 102 in the hot tub...best thing we ever bought:D

Last Friday night it was -38C I smoked outside... well I had a wind break but it was damn cold, but I was smoking a siglo IV so that made it all worth while. But I said I would not smoke in anything that cold again... unless I really want a smoke!! This weekend weather should be a nice -13C so I will be having a smoke for sure!

Bear how did you know I would answer a cold weather thread!! :tu

The coldest I've ever smoked a cigar is about 0 F.

Back when I used to smoke cigarettes, I was working outside at -45 F, and it was almost impossible to keep the cigarette burning!

Probably without wind chill -15 0r so. I've surely smoked a mess of them though while I've shoveled out cars or cleaned the driveway. The other day at -10 or so I had a cheapy stuck in the old pie hole while I was shoveling......... after ten minutes my moustache was frozen to the cigar.

Moustaches in cold climates can get messy.

Last week I smoked a cigar in my attic (live with a friend of mine and no insulation up there) It was -10 or so outside so I figure it was maybe 10-15 degrees where I was. Had jeans and a sweatshirt on but my hands were freezing... did make it like 3/4 of the way through though before going back to the heated main level

I hate the winter!! If it wasn't for family and my job I'd be down south somewhere. Preferably Tampa or Miami.

Anything on the (-)negative spectrum is to cold for me to smoke a cigar. Im grateful for my garage and space heater. Id say it doesn't drop below 40 unless I open the door for some ventilation.

Cold in Dallas??? Most of you would laugh :r But the coldest the g/f and I have endured was around 35°, and we were FREEZING!!@

I'm originally from Acapulco tho, so I'm used to a tropical climate. :)

I had one last week when it was -19, less wind chill.
I was huddled in front of my parabolic heater in the garage, but had the passage door open to allow some smoke out, and I could feel the cold creeping in.
It got so cold that I put down my 1/3 finished, 1st ever ERDM Grande de Espana :hn

I tried one a couple weeks ago when it was about 30 out, which is freezing down here! Then again I've only been at this for about a month, so I really haven't had a nice day to have a smoke.

I think it's a shame to smoke a cigar in less-than-optimum conditions. Sitting freezing your ass outside vs. sitting in a warm comfortable chair with good company almost certainly means you'll enjoy your smoke more. :2

I speak from personal experience, of course. ;)

well... outside it was 2degrees F. but i was in my garage but i had to have the door cracked half way and i have no space heater or anything. so without the wind i dunno maybe 4ish?

Hey... it's 41 degrees here just a bit east of Chicago and a touch south of the lake! That's downright tropical for this time of year. I'M GOING TO GO SMOKE RIGHT NOW!!! Woohoo!

And I have to hurry. Forecast is for it to drop about 40 degrees overnight... back to the way winter is s'posed to be.

Right now, we're having one of those, um, late January severe thunderstorms? Can't say we see a lot of those. Which is why it's a great time to smoke!

About -64 (with wind chill) in WY back in the 90s.

Minor frostbite on the nose but it was worth it.

Where you at? Munster, Hammond?

Just wait. You're getting what we had yesterday in Central Minnesota. Yesterday was 45 and beautiful for the Leaf. Right now, 45 below windchill! 2 hits on a cigarette on the deck and that's enough.

I love Minnesota, but this is the time of year when I'm ready for some warmth.:pp

Early this week, it was -30something F with the windchill - I went out to my smoking shed, bundled up, and enjoyed a "tasty hand rolled treat". Hey, somebody has to do it!!

Today, it warmed up quite a bit, (only -16F with the windchill) so I smoked two cigars while blowing out the driveway.

-70 & 0 wind, winter at Eielson AFB AK 26 miles south of Fairbanks. Nice cool night to watch the Northern Lights and partack of a cigar/pipe (not to mention sipping anti-freeze AKA: WILD TURKEY).
