I received this cigar along with the 5 Vegas Gold i smoked yesterday from netprophet and this cigar was very close in taste almost to the Gold i found imo. I make a nice tall mug/thermas of some really nice coffee and a little bit of hazlenut creamer in it. I stepped out into my garage and proceeded with my pre-lite routine.

I cut the cigar and the pre lite draw was a little stiff which concerned me since im not to found of a stiff drawing smoke. I lite the cigar and was shocked at how mild this was for such a dark wrapper! It had a real nice mellow creamy taste to it and the draw slightly got better but not by much.

16559

About 1/3 of the way into the cigar it started to get a leather undertone to it which was a nice compliment to the creamyness of the cigar. It started to get a very mild but slight taste of pepper in there to. I'm not a huge fan of pepper but it was so mild i didn't mind it at all. The burn was a little uneven as most of my cigars are to start out with.

16560

About 1/2 through the cigar (the band had slipped up a little bit) the cigar started to lose the leather taste but still had a very strong creamy taste and the pepper started to get stronger. By now my coffee is about half way done and the pepper is starting to bother me. But i keep smoking for the creamyness. As you can see in the pic (sorry for :BS pics they are all from my phone) the cherry of this cigar is a very nice short mound. The ash had very nice color to it and would ash itself at about 1 1/4 inches. The draw was still fighting with me and i tried to cut a little more off to see if it would help me win this battle but did no good.

16561

By now the creamy taste which i have loved so much had faded and the pepper had taken over. As you can see the burn had evened itself out and calmed down quite a bit and became much more consistent. The flavor was still very strong but the pepper was overwhelming for me and i had to put it out.

Side notes: Not enough smoked was produced from the cigar for me personally. It felt like i was struggling through the whole cigar to get little amounts of smoke but the flavor and taste was still strong and definitely not hurt from the lack of smoke i was getting.
VERY tastey creamy taste through most of the cigar
Got too peppery for my own personal likings towards the finish
Very hard draw (might be due to too much moisture)
Solid construction

Over all rating: 7.5 out of 10 (10 being high)

I had one this weekend. I agree on the smoke volume....just not alot of it. IMO the ash is not too attractive.....kind of a darkish charcoal look to it. And to me the stick tasted charry and lacked flavor and complexity. I don't care for these. Got it as a special from either CI or Cbid (I guess it doesn't matter) and won't buy anymore. They are cheap though. Funny that I don't think that these are like the Golds at all.....those sticks I would buy again. :2

I tried one from a 5er I got on cbid....seemed like it has potential, but I decided to age the other four a little while and see how they do. I think it would be great mellowed out a little bit.

nice review :tu

Thanks for the great review! You stated that the hard draw may be due to too much moisture. What was your humi set on? Thanks!

my humi is gyro actually reads 62% BUT i think it might be off cause my humi is packed and i have a drymistat + a sponge soaked with pg solution in there to try to keep the RH up. i've calibrated it 3 times and seasoned my humi in the correct way. i'm not sure but i figure with so many sticks in there with my drymistat AND the sponge soaked of pg it might be over humidified in there. (all the sticks on or around the sponge do have some sort of plastic wrapper on them.)

appreciate the review, but I strongly disagree about the Series A and Gold series tasting very much alike. In fact, I think they are polar opposites. Your critique of the construction and draw is pretty much in line with what I have experienced in the A Series, however. I enjoy these sticks, but find the 5 Vegas Miami to be a much better all-around smoke, and this is probably because if i'm not mistaken, it's the only one in the 5 Vegas line made by Don Pepin.

Be careful with the PG solution!!! I almost ruined all my smokes by over-humidifying with PG solution & an analog hygrometer! I now use the 65% Boveda packs, Hygroset adjustable digital hygrometers, and couldn't be happier! All my smokes are fantastic, now!!!
