I sat down with a Tatuaje Petite earlier this evening. I found the initial draw to be very tight, but I thought, it's a small stick -- maybe they have to pack it extra tight. About a third of the way through the smoke, the wrapper started flaking off in places; the outer layer sort of unraveled though it only happened in spots. This was the first stick I tried from a 5'er I won at that evil site, so I have no basis for comparison. Is this common with this vitola? The stick wasn't dry -- in fact, it smoked beautifully after I got past the initial draw.

I haven't smoked one in a long time, but I don't recall that ever happening.

No wrapper flaking, but I have had plenty of draw issues with these cigars... Some have been straight from my b&m (wet), but others I have rested in my 63-65% humi. Never had any problems with the Cabaiguan petite though...

I have a cab of these. I stored them for about a month before I started smoking them. So far, no problems with draw, wrapper, cracking or anything else. I've gifted several to gorillas here, so if they see this, maybe they can chime in on the ones I gave them.

I got mine from Holts.com and usually have excellent results. But then, I have no bad opinions of any of the online vendors that I use regularly.

Not familiar with the stick your talking about but I personally find the wrapper on the Havana VI a little thin. I've dropped two separate Angeles in the past and both had the wrapper blow apart. These were just off of a small table no more than the height of your average coffee table. I've had this happen with other sticks in the past too but they received no damage. Just my experience and opinion and no real facts to back up my claim.
The other question I have is where were you smoking this stick? Was it outside in the cold? Only reason I ask is because over the weekend I was smoking a JJ and the temperature dropped a bit from when I first started smoking and at the halfway point while taking a puff I heard a crack. Payed no attention to it until I took another puff and I heard it again. Looked at the stick and sure enough the wrapper started to split and unravel a bit. Fortunately, I was able to smoke past it but I attributed it to the fact that it was cold and dry. If the conditions were the same for you I would just some it up to the weather.

No experience with that particulr smoke. I did have the wrapper on a Tat. torp. cabinet crack and just start unraveling. Had a white label pretty much blow up, the wrapper cracked all down one side when I tried to poke it (1/4"-1/2") to improve the very tight draw.

I liked the few I smoked. Had decent draw and good flavor. I had one that bulged and cracked from the heat at about 1/2" in. It burned past it though and ended well. I think these are rolled tight, and the wrapper can be a little fragile.

II have been smoking the Tatuaje petite pretty often recently and have notice the tightness of the draw that you are talking about. I think that it's just because of how tight the cigar is rolled.

As to the flakiness, I have not had a problem with that in the more than a handful I have had. I would think that it could be from the storage of the cigar, seeing as I always light mine up at the cigar shop where I get it.

Sorry about the bad experience, for it is a pretty good cigar I find.

It happened AGAIN! :sb I won a 5'er of these off cbid -- I gifted 2 and all of the remaining three had issues with the wrappers either flaking, cracking or peeling away completely. I'm not willing to give up on the vitola because I really like the flavor of this stick, and it's a great winter smoke, but I won't be actively seeking them out either. </rant>

Mass, don't give up on these great tasty and spicy little sticks.....Could be the 5'er from C-bid is the problem. I have a box from Newhavanacigars and the half-dozen or so I smoked were terriffic with no wrapper issues.....

I've noticed that on several Tats I've had, the wrapper was a bit delicate. It seems to me that last weekend, Svillekid had one of this very stick while I enjoyed a Zino Platinum, and it flaked a little on him.

Having purchased several boxes of Tatuajes and many singles over the past year I have noticed that they are definitely more delicate than the average stick. I have also observed that the cigars in the boxes of Tatuajes at several B & Ms appear to be "beat-up" as well. IMHO I just don't think they are as durable as they should be...but they are tasty. As others have observed, the thickness of the wrapper of lack thereof is probably the problem.

I have previously said that I haven't had Tat wrapper flaking, but since it happened today, I thought that I'd come clean. I have a cab of Tat Reggios that I've been smoking without a problem. The one today started flaking today after about 1 inch. Kept flaking all the way to the end. Still an amazing smoke and they've picked up some incredible spice. So I've now seen it.
