Long time no post...had to pop in to let you guys know about this one. Robusto size I believe. I think I remembered someone mentioning Pepin having a hand in this one? Who knows he's a hard guy to keep track of these days. Anyway the construction is very good. Medium to heavy bodied smoke with a perfect amount of corojo spice. Not harsh in the least. Even a bit creamy almost. Smells of leather and tastes of vanilla with some woodsy, nutty notes. Nice firm ash and slow even burn. These are really killer...a little stronger than Pepin White but not as strong as black label. 8.0/10

Thanks for the review - I've always thought of picking up one of their house labels but never gotten around to it...perhaps I'll get on that.

It's been a while since I tried Cigar.com's house labels but I remember all the blends being pretty good smokes. I especially liked the corojo!

I must have gotten ahold of a bad one. :D
I got a sampler of Cigar.com's house blends with an order and since I really enjoy most Pepin cigars I was excited to try the corojo label. Boy was I disappointed. The cigar construction seemed average, nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either, but from the first draw this was a bad cigar. Harsh, acrid - not young or overhumidified or something - just plain nasty. I hung with it about 1/2 way thru the stick (robusto) hoping it would smooth out or change in some spectacular fashion, but the best it got was almost bearable. :hn :pu
Now, I wouldn't normally write off a cigar based on one tasting - but at the same time when you look at the price of the Cigar.com house brands I doubt I'll ever try another when there are so many cigars out there I know I like. I've smoked a lot of cigars, and this cigar wasn't off - it was just bad.
IMO - this is an example of a manufacturer/distributor trying to profit by putting a high profile name behind a fairly crappy cigar. YMMV. :)
BTW - I think cigar.com just says that the corojo label is made at Pepin's factory, that's not necessarily the same as saying that it is a Pepin blend.

I've only had one so I certainly can't speak to the consistency of the brand, I sat on this for probably close to a year b/c I didn't have much interest in it since it came in a Pepin sampler. So maybe that extra age did it some good.

I tried one of these out of a cigar.com sampler and it was the only one of the house blends I hated. I thought it was exceedingly harsh and tossed it at about the half way mark. As a disclaimer, i also tried an Indian Tabac corojo that I hated as well, so maybe it's just the corojo I don't like.
