This is my first post, so go easy on me.
It's a two parter, one part negative and one part positive.

I think my expectations of the Serie G were pretty high because I've read so many glowing reviews describing creamy this and smooth that. All the reviews made this cigar out to sound like a slightly chubby good-lookin red headed chick.
It panned out somewhere between a two bagger and a blind date.
It was boring. If it had a taste, it was that of one of those loose inside panels on Samsonite luggage.
The wrapper wanted to be bitter, but fortunately it didn't pan out. What did pan out is the bitters it left on the back sides of my tongue. Not at all pleasant.
Now mind you, these sticks did not sit in my humidor longer than a day or two. I figure a little age will help them out, but age isn't going to give them any character.
I'm probably biased because I do like a pretty nasty cigar.

Along with the G's I ordered some Serie O Maduro Churchills.
I sincerely hope the maduro wrapper imparts some ass to this line.
I didn't pay any attention to what's inside the Serie O, but I think I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I don't want to say that I didn't like any part of the G, because it looked nice, smoked nice, and was a lot of fun to fawn over.
It just didn't "do" anything. No wee-yoo. Bland and uninteresting.
Maybe they should rename it The Blind Date? I don't know.
What I do know is there's at least four left and I ain't smokin 'em.

Hope I didn't come off like a total dick.
I'm gonna write a pleasant review next...

Thanks Chip. Sorry, I was excited.
I did up an introduction thread over at the newbhole.

I liked the oliva serie g little box pressed robusto/PC when I had it. Like you said it wasn't anything special, but I love cameroon wrappers so it was good enough for a "whatever" smoke.

the bitterness you experienced could have been something you could purge out. if this happens again, give it a good purge and see if the taste balances back out. and like you said, they didn't sit in your humidor long so the RH could have been off. I like to let them rest at 65% for at least a few weeks to make sure the RH is stable. but i'm just picky.

welcome to the jungle, hope you enjoy it!

Hi Advil,
I agree completely. I'm not a fan of the Cameroon wraper because it's shiny and slippery and usually doesn't have a taste unless it's bitter. Must just be my palette.
I've been chewing tobacco since I was a little kid and a Maduro wrapper reminds me of a nice sweet pouch of chaw. It takes juices real well and gives back flavor.
The Cameroons just don't do that for me. They always seem to be dry and tend to crack and chip. The shinyness sort of repels my slobber ministrations.
I can see why folks would enjoy the Serie G. If you're not a big fan of tobacco flavor (like mine from chewing) you can enjoy a nice cigar more on the basis that a person would like a cigarette.
The G was like a cigarette with a giant filter to me.
I bet if they sit in the humi the bitter would go away completely and leave me with a very mild and smooth smoke. I can understand why some folks would enjoy it.

Hey Shilala, welcome . From what you describe the cigar was way too young. Why not keep a few in the humi for a year and try again. I have often done this and been pleasantly surprised.
In my opinion, smoking a stogie right off the shelf or off the truck is wasting a good cigar (if it is a good cigar to start out with!) Cheers, Larry.

Thanks Larry,
I'm sure some time will mellow out the rough edges on this thing, but I doubt it's gonna make it pop. Just not my idea of a cigar, I'm afraid.
I took a couple O Maduro's out of the cooli and put them in the humi, I'll give it some breathing time before I try one. It smells really nice and I'm not gonna have any expectations about this one. I'm sure that'll help.
