I am not interested in anything carved, just a plain-jane pipe. Someting looking like this maybe.

I've seen this list of don'ts with this type of pipe. Anything else I should be aware of before pulling the trigger?

- DO NOT drop nor tap it to the hard surfaces
- DO NOT allow a cake to build in the bowl
- DO NOT twist the stem counter-clockwise
- DO NOT take the stem out of a pipe while it is still hot
- DO NOT use alcohol to clean
- DO NOT use pipe sweetener

Don't let a meer smoke too hot. It does bad things to the coloring process.

BTW, I've had good luck with SMS pipes www.smspipes.com/pages/indexshapes.html and Altinok pipes www.altinokpipe.com

my local B&M has some nice CAO Meerschaums they are doing a closeout on. Any feedback on those pipes?

Yeah, see if you can find one that is to your liking and that is signed by Beckler.
