Hello Gentlemen,
I will be in Nicaragua for the next couple of weeks, upon my return I would love to do some sort of contest for some pre-release NUbs.
I'd love some suggestions on a good contest. If you have any post some ideas of what you think would be creative and appropriate.
I want to get some of these cigars in your hands for you to try, and would like us to have some fun in doing so.
All The Best,
Sam Leccia

We could guess how many cigars you smoke while you're in Nicaragua... of course you would have to keep track!

Sam,
How about a poll for the top 10 (or so) most deserving BOTL based CS member votes. This way you have multiple winners and more smokes in more hands with one contest.
Or you could take bobarian's idea and just apply it to lets say, the 10th post in this thread.
Enjoy your trip.
All the best,
Al

Thanks for offering up some cigars. For contest ideas, how about these:
1) weight of your cigars
2) number of leafs that are in your cigar
3) how many blends you tried before deciding on the final one
4) how many nubs are/will be rolled daily
Enjoy your trip and give us some pics please! Really looking forward to trying these out.

Something numerical seems to work pretty well around here (how many ________ ). How many cigars you smoke in nicaragua, box price, blends to find that perfect one, whatever. That way more than one person can win (the three closest, or whatever).
If you want creative however, how about something like who can create the nub logo out of the most unique items. (Cigar items, cigars, people ash, whatever...).

Almost definitely any kind of numerical guesstimates are good.
You could really do all sorts of things...heck, a poetry contest would be pretty off the wall here at CS, and I bet there's some writers lurking around :)
A lottery is always a way to decide things.
I guess the question is, what and how many prizes are you giving away? That helps set some guidelines for the contest ideas.

Story contests are fun. You could do something where people tell when they were having a cigar or wanted to have a cigar and a typical cigar didn't fit but a NUB would have been perfect. Then you can use the winning story/stories as part of your marketing materials. Anyway have a great trip.

Some of the best contests on here have been a series of trivia questions, having to get answers to all, and sometimes they're very specific and rough to just google (ie you would have to know exactly what it is to figure it out). There's always some great responses to those, especially if it's got a nastalgia aspect to it.
Personally, I like the number's games. Pick how many this and that, or random drawings from all contestants.

I remember you saying that, despite their short size, your cigars burn for a long time and to set aside time to smoke 'em. I think that a story contest of either a) when someone will smoke it and what environment they'll smoke it in or b) a story in which they sat down and had a long smoke with friends, acquaintances, strangers, whoever! That way when the reviews come in, you can get a better demographic of how people smoke and under what conditions people smoke. Or, y'know, you could just draw from a hat. That always works.

well, if your goal is to get people to taste your cigar. the contest has to do with them doing something with your cigar (i.e. smoking it)
So, you could have a sallest nub contest on the cigars you send them.
Or, you could have the best photo a person can make while smoking your cigar.
Or, you could have the person who writes the most creative review of your cigar win a bundle of your cigars.
Try those ideas.

WOW,
I just got through these 3 PAGES! I did not expect just a large number of responses!
There are some great ideas here...it seems that stats are a favorite here, so I will post a little "contest before the contest, contest"
