Prothro is out for the remainder of the season. :( Very not good. Both bones in the lower leg were fractured, I could see it flop from where I was standing in the endzone. Fortunately it didn't break the skin. And also fortunately, WR's is not something that we are short on depth. We have other guys who can step in but it will be hard to fill those shoes.
On happy news, 31-3 is about the worst whooping Florida has recieved in a while. It has also been 166 games since Florida was held to 0 touchdowns.

Your idea of happy news and my idea of happy news obviously differ. ;)
Well, maybe now the Gators will be underdogs when the Semi-holes come to the Swamp next month.

They looked so good last year ago until Croyle got hurt and appear back in form. Put a beating on my wife's beloved G8Rs. Hey ... at least VT survived Morgantown.

Can't argue with what the tide did today.
Shula should be ashamed of what happened to Prothro though, throwing to the end zone when they are up 28. You know the saying...what goes around....
Great game by Bama, but we will see you win the Swamp next year. Revenge will be sweet!
Go Gators!

I gotta disagree with you there, Shula made the right decision. There was still 8:30 minutes left in the ball game. When you're playing a dangerous team like Florida that has the weapons on offense to put up points in a hurry, you gotta keep playing hard. You can't play the game in fear of getting hurt. It's unfortunate, yes, but you don't expect things like that to happen, especially not to a WR. I know you must feel like we were just trying to run up the score but the truth is that there was still enough time and Florida is a good enough team that it was still feasible for them to come back, I've seen it happen 100 times. It's easy to look back with hindsight and say that you wouldn't have called that play, I know I wouldn't have now that I see the result. But when you're there in the moment, any play, whether it's the first play from scrimmage or a 4th Quarter play up by 28, could be the play that your star player gets hurt. You just gotta trust in the higher powers, whether it be God, Coach Bryant, or whatever, that your boys are gonna be ok. I mean, if you want to talk about it, we technically could have had our second string in after halftime. :D

I'm with NV. I enjoyed Spurrier putting that last TD down to score 50+ against Georgia in Athens for the first time ever ...... and I would have kept the hammer on the G8Rs all the way until the end.

Didn't get to see the game, but man it's frustrating being a gator fan sometimes. You never know what you're gonna get. I guess Bama just beat 'em down..??

Unfortunately: Bama is awesome. Florida is pissed. Mississppi State Sucks. And Mississippi State plays at the swamp next Saturday.
Gators - 45, MSU Cow college - 0. You heard it from me first!
The sad part is about my Bulldogs is that at this point I would be happy with moral victories and a 6-6 record. When's basketball? No, scratch that. When's baseball?
It's time for bed.

A win is always sweet. Hate the bitterness of players hurt, but it is a part of the game. I have to agree with Ninja, Florida is just too strong, and has too much of a high octane (usually) offense to let up on scoring chances. Tennessee/LSU lesson was learned, and not repeated.
I think back to several previous Alabama Coaches that thought "prevent Defense" was the way to go, and ended up losing games they had in the bag by giving up too much. Changing from agressive to passive makes it hard to re-energize a team that suddenly finds itself without a previously "untouchable" lead. I don't agree with a coach that will leave in a first string offense against a secondary school that they are whipping by 50 points. But gaining insurance points against a power team like Florida is a better stratagy than going soft and hoping they will continue to mis-fire.
It will be interesting to see what the polls think. If the past week is an indicator, Florida will probably only fall a couple of slots, and several teams with a loss will still be ranked above Alabama.

It's going to be interesting to see how they do against Ten/LSU/Auburn. With so many SEC teams ranked to should help the strength of schedule. Is the first BCS poll at the end of this month?

I know what you are saying about continuing to play your game. You only have to look at Florida's game against Kentucky last week as an example. The throwing the the end zone isn't what bothered me as much as he chose to do that on 4th down at that point in the game.
As far as Florida being a dangerous team...not yet. I can't really use the Kentucky game as an example that they proved they can be a dangerous team. Right now, they have to find a way to block. The offensive line hasn't blocked anybody this year except Kentucky and they have an awful D-Line. Bama had a better game plan and was more prepared to play than Florida. I would like to say that we will see you in Atlanta, but I am not sure Florida can make it there at this point. They have some work to do.
Good luck to the Tide the rest of the way.....

Any way you go, it sure is hard to beat SEC football for excitement. I also appreciate the ability to root for my team, but still be able to converse with someone we just beat, or that just beat us, and not have a fist fight break out!!!

I wish that was always true, but all teams have some fans the ruin it for everyone. You guys are great though and I have enjoyed the little post game debate with you. Just do me a favor and dispose of Tennessee for us when you play them. It is always good to kick a Vol when they are down... :D

Wish that weren't true, but you are right. There are a few fans that just don't get it that it's a game, and they can't check their egos at the gate. I have some friends that are Auburn fans, and they never get over a loss, or a bad call, or an injury to one of the tiger players.
On the other hand, I also have five fingers.
But seriously, can you imagine an SEC game if the fans were a rabid as some of the soccer fans we see clips of?? There would be mass graves at every stadium. The south would have a lot less population (some might say that is a good thing). Goal post would have to be made of solid steel and buried 20 foot deep in a hugh concrete base (and they would probably still get torn down!)
See y'all next year, and I'm sure even today that it will be anybody's game that day.
