look at this garbage they suspended this kid for.. a bag of skittles. not drugs, a fine cigar, weapons no just a bag of candy he bought from his friend. what kind of world are we living in when we let a bunch stalinist bureaucrats tell our kids what they eat. ill tell my kids what they eat not the goverment. there is no federal or state law that backs this up.

by what they have done the candy man would be taken off in handcuffs if he came to that school.

How ironic, "Skittles" is a slang term for Coricidin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coricidin) sometimes used in high doses as a recreational drug because it contains the psychoactive drug dextromethorphan (http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/), classified as a Dissociative; Psychedelic; Cough Suppressant.
Yes, how true and sad.

i draw the conclusion that if we allow a someone to institute national or "universal" healthcare then we will have more of this in our lives. A goverment that grants you healthcare can deny you and put restrictions on what you do or else youll get your ass dropped. it runs the same lines as smoking or what kind of food restraunts are permited to sell or cook with. at the local highschool where i live they have to sell french frys with a sandwhich, you have to take it, and no salt shakers aloud to the kids.

Hello? No one has prohibited what you tell your kids they can eat. The school rule that was broken was the SALE of candy. Maybe you missed that in the article before going off on your rant.

haha this is hilarious! i remember the good ole days of stiring up trouble at school.
i mean c'mon now. suspended for selling candy. there has to be more important things to worry about unless this kid was starting a "turf war" of candy sales. "10 skittles for a dollar!"

how can you ban what my kid brings to school. the school cant supply it. i just dont want some moron teacher telling my kid since he brought in candy then hes done. they got him for having it and another articlle which goes in further into it the principal said it was a security threat for him to have money. no school rule can say that my kid cant bring in candy or money. the school rule book said no bake sales but not kids doing it out of his lunch box.

1-its the fact that no rule was broken just they used their power to suspend him
2-there is no legaly binding law that says a kid cant sell candy to another friend.
3-i dont want my tax money to go to a highly uniozied grouped of people who walk around patting down kids not for drugs or weapons but for candy. teach the kids english, math, and history not worrying what little johny or susie is eating for lunch. if i wanted my kid to eat a bag of sugar i danm well have the right not some moron in a suit.

if it was my kid
1- take him to a private school
2- give him a whole box of candy to eat for lunch, a garbage bag full of it
-yes a little childish i know
what you think those teachers desk don't have candy in them or that bafon principal doesn't scarf down a bag of mms or his desk is bulging with the junk.

A bit off subject but senseless none the less. A kid in my Cub Scout pack got sent to the Principal's office because they were standing in a circle talking. Standing in circles are against the rules as they might exclude someone.

I guess from the purely legalistic sense of this, the suspension and impeachment are justified. But c'mon, seriously?
I just want to know one thing. What is this gonna cost the school district in defenses? I bet it's more than the kid sold the pack of Skittles for.
However, for the record, leafy green vegetables are against my wellness plan that consists of beer and anything fried. Anyone caught trying to sell me something in violation of my wellness plan will be whipped by Replicant Argent, who moonlights as a dungeon master.

You're joking, right?!
I can't believe what a (what fark.com would call it) nanny state we are becoming.
I remember when running in the hallways would get you, at max, bitched at by the teacher. I can't imagine what it would get you now.

I'm with you on this one, the kid broke the rules of the school which he attends and has to abide to. Not saying the rule isn't dumb, but that is how it is. Ignorance is no excuse for not knowing the rules.

If that's the case, then we would still have segregation. Sometimes rules need to be broken to show that they are in fact, ridiculous.

You know, you people are something. The kid broke the rules, and you are telling me that an honors student who is student council vice-president doesn't know the rules. The kid selling the candy knew the rules, there is no mention of what happened to him. Think he got suspended as well? The rule in your opinion may be stupid (okay, my opinion as well) but, it is a rule. The rule is in place for a reason. Maybe, now the parents will do something constructive like pay attention to what is going on in school. There many schools around here who have stopped selling candy and other snacks in the school because they are being blamed by the parents for their kids being over-weight. Then when kids get caught breaking rules that parents forced on school districts the parents raise cain.
It has happened here, an honor student got expelled for carrying a knife in school, a small swiss army knife but a knife never the less. His parents raised a lot of noise because their little darling wouldn't do something bad. The schools zero tolerance policy is wrong. Sorry, without a zero tolerance policy the school leaves itself open to law suits. Even with one they can get sued, but they are more defensible that way. A policy like this has to be enforced no matter what or whom otherwise it will not work.
If you do not agree with school policies, then become active go to school board meetings, make you voice heard, work in the system. How many of you know if your child's school has this type of policy.

theyre is also zero tolerance for religion except if your muslim then they will give you a footbath or provide pray matts to not offend anybody when it offends me when a teacher can't say God or a excerpt from the bible or torah without getting the third degree. its politics. samething with fighting, if the kids fight they are both suspended just because someone will sue either the teacher trying to sperate them or the kid who got his ass kicked. the public school system has gone completely down the toilet.

This country needs an enema.
You want a good reason for a suspension? Here's one!
