View Full Version : Tobacco stored in ziplock for over a year.
I have some pipe tobacco in a zip lock bag that I put away for longer than a year. Is the tobacco still good?

It should be fine. I smoked some last night from a ziplock bag that had been sitting unopened for four years--it was very good :). If it's dry, you can sprinkle a little distilled water in it and let it sit for a while.
Thanks for the advise croatan. I think I'm going to try the pipe this week-end.

Its amazing to see all these people getting turned onto a Pipe.
as already stated, it should be good.
for christmas of '03, i bought my dad some tobacco from the shop i get mine at, and i just got it a few months ago, in the same plastic bag (not even a ziploc) and it's perfect.
I just called the store and asked what kind of tobacco it is and he said it's McClelland Columbian Mocha. Very chocolate and sweet smell. It really smells great and the smell is very powerfull still. I want to try some of it this weekend. Do you guys know how that tobacco is? I never tried it. Also, the pipe I have is an Erik Nording straight pipe, how are these?

It's an aromatic that McClelland sells in bulk. I'm not much on it, personally.

I guess that means it's going too sweet and crappy for a guy who doesn't like flavoured cigars, so it looks like a bought the wrong tobacco. I didn't have CS pipe forum then. :)

Just because it's an aromatic doesn't mean it's necessarily bad. I know a number of guys who wouldn't touch a flavored cigar but like aromatic pipe tobacco. There are just very few that appeal to me.
