I love smoking my pipe. Well, I dont have a specific pipe that I love smoking out of but I absolutely love smoking pipe tobacco. I have about 5 crappy pipes.. 4 made out of briar and one merrshuam.. and a couple old wooden ones.. I sent my favorite and best pipe off to dave along with some tobacco to get him into pipe smoking but appearantly the pipe had a defect in it and did not smoke right for him... which bothered me as it had been my favorite and best pipe, albeit not worth much, for the past half year..
Anyways, so I have a new job now as a Barista and I'm pulling in a little Tip Money (And I do mean a LITTLE :2 ) that my wife allows me to spend on whatever I wish.. (Yes, I'm whipped but for good reasons! :hn )
I stumbled into the local smoke shop earlier this week to purchase a very small and very crappy $10 pipe to smoke from as my other ones are rather.. well, not functional... I do have a nice briar somewhere that I had got as a christmas present two years ago but haven't found it, i'll have to keep an eye out for it.
Anyways, to the point. I was finally able to get my hands on my absolute favorite pipe tobacco ever.. Blue Note.. I'm sure that most long term or experienced pipe smokers will frown upon smoking such things as experienced cigar smokers frown upon smoking flavored cigars.. I've smoked my fair share of "regular" unadulterated tobaccos as well as my fair share of "flavored" tobaccos like Cavendish (i very much like Black Cavendish).
Next to the blue note my favorite so far has been the Bill Bailey's Balkan Blend that Dan Tobacco put out, I believe in association with CAO (or it was blended by CAO or something).. anyways, I am not ashamed and completely unabashed to admit that I am 100% infatuated with the pipe tobacco that goes by the name "Blue Note"...
God forbid that someone actually manufactuer the Elusive "Brown Note (*) " pipe tobacco. (*=note, see South Park and Myth Busters Episodes to learn more about the brown note).
Back On Topic, I had obtained about 4 ounces of Blue Note about two years ago that I had ran out of it several months ago. Luckily, I was able to send out some samples before I completely ran out. This material was much different than the Blue Note that I got today in the tin. The original material was dark and more sticky very much like Black Cavendish while this new stuff is just amazing!!! Not that the old stuff isn't, its what got me hooked!
This pipe tobacco is suppost to resemble or be identical to the blend of tobaccos used in CAO's Flavored MoonTrance cigar (which is one of the only flavored cigars I can tolerate (in extreme moderation!).
This new blend is soo moist and so perfect. It came in a small 50 gram tin and the mix is much lighter brown with some hints of dark leaf in it. The aroma of the unlit tobacco is very strong and has slight nuances of fermented beverages. It smells (both lit and unlit) and tastes like E&J's Chocolate Temptations (A favorite Chocolate Liquer beverage of mine!!).. it makes my mouth water and everything that the smoke comes into contact with turns to gold!!
Anyways, I just thought that I would share (well more like ramble on about) my experience..
Have any of you seen Adult Swims (On Cartoon Network) Tom Goes To The Mayor: Episode : Pipe Camp ?? Its awesomely freaking hellarious!! It needs to be available online, maybe you can search torrents or p2p or something. I have it TiVo'ed and refuse to delete it.. its an awesome episode and if you love pipes you will dig this crazy arse show.
There was a website up offering "Pipe Camp" t-shirts for awhile, not sure if its still around anymore.
so the moral of the story is: Tom Goes To The mayor (and adult swim) rocks and that Blue Note is my favorite pipe tobacco.. Does this make me a childish stoopid head? Its plausible.. Does this make me more desirable in bed? absolutely not.
and dont you ever forget that.
